Ah. I knew there was a reason I found my cats so lovable and infuriating at the same time... they remind me of me! I'm the same way--if there's a choice, I want to have it, even if I would have chosen what people would have chosen for me if I hadn't had the option.

I'm not actually ret*d but I do have these sorts of episodes from time to time where I read all sorts of hidden meanings in what people write and say, I can play the drama queen when the occasion calls

People can be paranoid even if they are very intelligent. And sometimes, even if you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you... I do disagree with the "911 was an inside job" statement; the CIA simply isn't that good; nor does it make sense to blame it on Afghanistan when the real target was Iraq. But believing such a widespread and plausible conspiracy theory as that is not a sign of stupidity. I'd start to wonder about your wisdom if you believed there was never a Holocaust or the Moon landing was faked... but wisdom and intelligence are two different things. Aspies often are paranoid and I think it's kind of mean to go calling them stupid because of it.

If you took some lame IQ test that told you otherwise, don't believe it. I figure most people with ASD/AS underscore by at least 20-50 points on those tests, their weaknesses are not nearly as weak as they might be led to believe, and thier strengths are stronger.

Also, nobody is ret*d. You may lack some mental capacity, be brain damaged, be mentally incompetent, but mental retardation is an old term used by those who are hurt and don't know any better. I doubt you would think to believe how intelligent people with IQ's under 70 really are, or how capable many of them can be. So, no, you aren't ret*d. Nobody is. And if you have autism, keep in mind there are several people with PhD's that have autism who don't have to be outstanding geniuses to get that degree.

I think that the problem with a lot of aspies is that while they are not unintelligent, they tend to be somewhat slow-witted, which explains why they have such a hard time communicating and interacting with people in real time. That might also explain why so many people here flunked the BBC IQ test, which had a time limit of roughly 5 seconds per question.
