Could it be that many who are diagnosed with Aspergers are not Autistic but merely have a form of NLD? The symptoms of NLD and Asperger's are almost indistinguishable. Autistics, on the other hand, typically have a comparably higher non-verbal IQ and are typically in the ret*d range when it comes to verbal intelligence (those who are low-functioning that is).

NLD and AS are very different, I've no idea why so many people say they're very similar.

Some people believe that AS is nothing more than a severe case of NLD.

This can't be correct in general. Non-verbal communication is definitely not the most severe aspect for me. For others it is.

I don't really understand the question. I consider NLD to be part of the autistic spectrum. I've been diagnosed with NLD, but I could probably be diagnosed with AS as well.
