some of you will know that i ocd and im a very guilty person and i've posted several posts about religion and praying. i wanted to get my exam deferred because of my ocd, but the prof isn't willing to give me a make-up, so im going to tell him about my condition. but i remember not wanting to study and i was lazy. even watching movies was horrible for me because i would obsess during it and i have to concentrate at the same time or else i act as i don't deserve to understand thoroughly or naturally what they're saying in the movie automatically. studying might be worse.

what should i do? i don't want to ask him for a make-up if i was just being lazy. im on medication and life was just a horrible thing for me, but meds started working i think.

he's not going to give me an exam. should i drop this course or not if i want to go to med school? the maximum mark i can get now is 72%.

The general rule with Universities is that make-up exams are not allowed. It's an educational standard that exams are when they are, and barring hospitalization or a close relative dying, make-ups are not allowed. However, if you talk to Disability Services before hand, they usually arrange un-timed exams on certain dates for students who are registered with them.

I've gotten make-up exams for the flu before. It doesn't have to be that drastic.

This greatly depends on the school as well as the individual teacher. Some teachers will allow make-ups some will not. However with it being a midterm and all, I would be very surprised if the professer did allow you to make-up the test. I realize you have alot of things to deal with and I'm sorry but I think you might just have to live with the consequences of your actions.

That being said, it probably wouldn't hurt to ask!

Yes, you could leave it up to the prof.

Have you calculated out whether it's possible to pass the class with a zero on the midterm?

I have had this kind of problem myself, except it happened to me when I was depressed. I would end up not having the motivation to study, then skip the final because I was afraid of failing, because if I skipped it then I could blame my failing grade on that instead of the fear that I wasn't cut out for college. I failed classes thanks to that, combined with a horrible sleep pattern (or lack of pattern, more precisely), and just about near-constant overload. I think I would have gotten Cs and Ds even if I had gone to the finals; that's what I got when I did go. There was never enough time for me to take the tests; I'd end up leaving parts of them blank...

Hmm, yeah, better risk it with the prof. 95 is too high to dependably get even if you really know the material. You never know how picky they'll be with grading.

You do need As and Bs to get into med school, usually (but a really good MCAT could get you in with a lower average)... if this is one of the Bs, that's probably not going to be a huge deal.
