I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. When I am stressed out or sad or overloaded I like to hug and touch very soft things like stuffed animals, some fluffy type of dogs and cats, soft blankets, and soft material such as cashmere. I was tired and feeling overloaded after Thanksgiving for having to be social for a long time. When I got home I took a stuffed dog that is very soft and closed my eyes and held it. Someone at Thanksgiving had on a very soft vest so I went up and smoothed it for a little bit. I caught myself and stopped doing it but it was so soft I just couldn't help it. I just wonder if I am the only person who has reactions like this to things that are soft.

All my life I have had a super soft pillowcase on my pillow (not the same one of course but I get a new one when the old one wears out) and I looove to feel the case. Any time I'm sitting around my house, I go get my pillow and feel the pillowcase. I've been doing this since I was a toddler, my mom thought I would grow out of it

I love soft textures, but I don't seek them out that much. I'm much more for a cool smooth surface. :D

Wire mesh mothers.

Monkey babies separated from their mothers preferred to cling to the wire mesh "mothers" covered with soft terry cloth rather than the ones that supplied milk but weren't soft (except when they were actually feeding, of course).

I love soft fabrics full time (as long as it's natural fibre, of course).

I don't like soft things, necessarily; I like certain materials. Some "soft" things feel sticky or too-warm or just plain wrong somehow--textures I don't have words for--and I avoid them. Some non-soft things like a newly line-dried towel (if you dry a towel on a laundry line outside instead of in a dryer) feel very good.

yes....i like soft things like socks, scarfs, sweaters, blankets, pillows, bed ^^

smooth surfaces are second choice when the things above aren't available, like while at school...feeling edge of the desk and when there's bumps, i feel the bumps with my finger....

I love all kinds of soft textures when Ive had a long and overwhelming day, such as my soft toys, special soft cushions, stroking and snuggling with my cat and snuggling into my sleeping bag in my lounging clothes.

I also love smooth surfaces for stressfull situations at work such as the table leg in the meeting room. I often slip my shoe off and run my foot over it

AS,
I have a major addiction to sheets. When it comes to waking up in the morning of a weekday, I usually have trouble waking up as the sheets are just too soft.

I like petting my cat, whose fur is really soft. It helps me feel calm when I'm feeling overloaded.

It's one of the reasons I wear American Eagle; it's fashionable, and it's really, really soft. :hail:
