I can and my husband said it is unusual and also incredibly unfair.

So can you control your dreams? if so to what extent?

I can usually control parts and occasionally I can control the entire dream.

That's called "lucid dreaming". I tend to lucid dream when I'm in the middle of a nightmare. First, I try to wake myself up by screaming or throwing myself off of staircases. When that doesn't work, I commit suicide in the dream to end it.

mine are not nightmares. My nightmares are night tremors (which I can't control). These are good dreams

I've had lucid dreams a few times. Can start controlling but i'll usually quickly wake up. And like above i've had some scary dreams/been in bad situations and realized i was dreaming and try to wake myself up out of it by trying to inflict pain on myself in the dream, holding my breath etc etc.

Me too. Whenever I think I'm dreaming I fly around and find mates.

We talked about lucid dreaming in psychology. When I was 4ish I was able to change my dreams if I was having a nightmare, not as much anymore, but it still happens a little...I wish I could do it like I used to be able to..

I've gotten stuck in lucid nightmares before. Sometimes to wake up from them I have to shock myself awake. Like make someone suddenly scream to get my heart racing and wake myself up. Generally though, during lucid dreaming, I can wake up very easily, I just open and close my eyes in the dream, until eventually my eyes really open in real life. When they aren't nightmares though, lucid dreams are amazing, and I really don't want to wake up from them.

Every now and then I will realize that I am actually dreaming and be able to somewhat control what happens in the dream. What if I'm dreaming this...?

I have them sometimes. I had them a lot when I was younger. I'd like to be able to control my dreams now. They're getting really weird and confusing.

I've had many throughout my life, and yes, they are amazing--waking to full consciousness is a disappointment.

You know that you are dreaming, but have some degree of control over the situations.

A former colleague and I were discussing this one time, and he was so envious that I've had dreams where I could fly--he said that he wanted to experience this so badly.

Not all were lucid, however, in that I couldn't control my flight, and woke up abruptly because I was aloft and descended suddenly, waking up just before the crash.

But one is particularly memorable, because I dreamed that I was flying by moving the mouse on my computer, which was (in my dream) a MacIntosh. I recall waking and thinking that I must buy a MacIntosh, because I couldn't do this with a Windows computer...

I want to be able to control my dreams so bad.
I've done it before, but it's a matter of luck and I always wake up quickly if I gain control.

Even just try meditating. Some people believe lucid dreaming is when your soul reaches the astral plane. Who knows? It might work for you. It's worth a shot.

I really think Windows sux but I think I have a surprise for you. :D
Hmmm... it doesn't seem to be working on MY linux computer. :(
I hope it still works in Windows. I think it should. Say something if it doesn't.
It should work online as a web page, without downloading anything.
Mouse Controlled Flying Dream

If that doesn't work anymore, there's a Google Earth Flight Simulator (somewhere on Google).
