Do you listen to the same piece of music over and over?

About one year ago my brother noticed that I often listened to the same piece of music over and over and over again, often for hours at a time. I had been playing in my room a track by Infected Mushroom for nearly three hours when he opened my door and asked why I kept listening to the same thing over and over again. I didn't know how to respond; I thought everyone did this, that it was completely normal.

Does anyone here behave similarly?

Yes, all the time, lol. It's one of my favorite things to do and other people hate it!
Once I get used to a song I want to hear that same song over and over and I have no explanation why this is.

Yes I'm the same, and I usually listen to the same albums over and over again aswell. I dont get bored of them and I dont need to buy something new.

Sometimes a song has a sound I want to hear and unless I have dozens of others almost like it, I will repeat it until I've had enough. I do think three hours sounds like a long time to hear one song, though.

Sometimes I do. I get fixated on a certain song (gee, that's not aspie-ish!) and play it over and over. Then maybe I'll get sick of it and move on to another song.

Oh yes.

1. Put on CD containing the "offensive" song.
2. Play until that song comes on.
3. Drop everything to listen to it about 10 times in succession.
4. Let the CD continue.
5. Skip back to that song after one or two additional tracks.
6. Repeat from #3 until it becomes annoying.
7. Repeat from #1 until you can let the CD play in its entirety without interruption or until the tubes in your amplifiers burn out.
8. Replace tubes (see "Bulb" thread).

Ugh--I love/hate earworms. :?

Yes, I used to do this often when younger.

Later, I approached it differently, but still listened to songs over and over. At that point, I had to learn how to play them because I liked the songs and wanted to be able to play them whenever I wanted.

Soon after that, I had to learn how to play songs that I didn't necessarily like that much, and would have to listen to them over and over too. I still do whenever getting with a new outfit. Usually for several weeks until I memorize them sufficiently.

Pretty normal for me. I've done this ever since I can remember. Maybe not for 3 hours. But what's an hour or two here and there?

I try for more variety, but almost always go back to whatever song I am currently obsessed with.

WoW! Yes I do. Most people around me hate this trait I have. I cannot believe I found others who love to hear the same song over and over again.

Yeah, I buy CDs but in the end I always find myself listening to the same 2 songs over and over again, iTtunes seems good for me since you can buy single tracks but for some reason I still want the whole CD, just in case

I thought it was normal too. Now I'm very frustrated. :x

I think this is fairly common among those with AS. I think the longest I've listened to a single song was 10 hours during a car trip.

Sometimes it will help me write or get work done. Other times I find a song or piece of music that is somewhat complex and I listen to it until I know all the parts of it like the back of my hand.

The downside is it sometimes kills the song for me though. The only song that has survived this treatment for me is "Golden Slumbers."

Yes, I listen to the same music over, and over, and over again sometimes when it makes me think about certain things.
