:x :x :x :x :x :x :x

I hate it. When I keep telling my mom, that her crap is not in my room, she just doesn't GET it. She goes out of my way to BARGE in there and turn it upside down. Everything is all over the place, she took things that are mine.

When will everyone learn to f*ck off? Leave me alone. MY room is a mess, so what? Is it bothering anyone? Is the booogey man going to jump out and kill me if I don't clean it?
No body likes it when I put my textbooks on the floor, well I LIKE them on the floor.

She destroyed my place of peace. Now I can't go back in there, I just...can't.

IF you ruin my sanctuary expect my wrath.

This ever happen to you? Doesn't everyone hate that??

I know what you mean. My mom puts my clean clothes on my bed and it completly throws me off about the way my room is supposed to look. If she or my dad need anything out of my room (we share an "internet stick") they ask for it.

This issue about a clean room, it's so petty. I spent all day and night in my room anyway, the door is always locked.

I put posters and drawings on the wall, but they end up being torn down. THAT I hate.

Oh, GOD. I freakin' hate it when my parents come in and badger me about my mess! I know where everything is and I can navigate just fine. I mean what does it matter to them if my room is messy? They don't sleep in it and nobody else comes into my room.

WARNING! BAD ADVICE: It must be ok to go into other people's rooms and mess things up and take stuff then, just like mom does.

Seriously, many times my parents did that to me and I did it to them, and then I got into big trouble for "STEALING STUFF".
I wasn't even intentionally retaliating.
I didn't connect their actions to my own.
I actually believed them for awhile when they called me "THE THIEF in the house".

I was probably around 9 years old when that happened though.

My mum moved my StarGate DVDs. I noticed one was missing straight away and nearly exploded in a fit of rage until I realised that was simply in the wrong place.

Your mom needs to watch "Mozart and The Whale". The girlfriend cleans up the boyfriend's place meticulously( both being aspies). She thinks he will be pleased, but he is traumatized. "YOU STOLE MY LIFE!!" She realizes this is his safe haven, where he knows where his things are, doesn't matter that no one else does, she sees she had no right to move, throw away, change around his things.. ... I clean homes, and I understand better now when I clean kids' rooms . Respect, respect , respect their space. I am sorry your mom does not understand your need for privacy and independence.IN time, she will.....

I hate this too. My step-brother tidied up for me and I go to look for something that is where I last left it only to find, it is not there... End of the story is, I ripped the place apart to find it. Oven door came off, front door spring failed, place was messier than before... Ho-hum...

Chimchar, I understand how you feel. My sister is very similar in the sense that she perfers her room to be messy too, although I can't really say as to it being intentional, or just ending up that way.

I really dislike parents or teachers who steal from kids as a form of discipline. Not only does it teach them that stealing is a form of gaining power, and may lead to that child becoming a criminal. It is a violation of that child's rights. I've gotten into a couple of arguments on here, concerning parents taking items away from their kids as a disciplinary matter. I don't see how it's any more than bullying by the parents. I don't see what it's supposed to teach the child, other than to live in fear, and walk on eggshells if they want to be able to own anything in their own home.

I used to get upset if I saw things taken from my room or things out of place. It just annoyed me. I would careless about clean clothes being in my room. My family started asking me if they can use something out of my room and I would let them. I don't have that problem anymore since I don't live with my family. There is nothing in my room for my boyfriend to take out of. All I have in there are my clothes and the PS2 and he doesn't use it that much because there is no other TV to hook it up to except for in the living room. But it be pointless if he did that because we have a DVD player out here and game systems. If he wants to play a PS game or a PS2 game, he can do it in the bedroom.

My mother has cleaned my room while I be in school and I come home to a surprise and like it so I am the opposite of you guys. She would just show me where she put everything. And she also consulted me first before she moved things around in my room. She would tell me if I wanted to try it and if I don't like it, we can move it back. I think she has always consulted me as long as I can remember. I can remember getting upset one time when she changed the direction of the clothes rack in my closet. She never told me about it first and I wasn't there when it happened to it was a surprise when I got home. I was six then. I don't think my mother did another surprise in my room ever again without me around.

I know what you mean. What's wrong with them being on the floor? The floor is a valid surface to put things on - just because it's meant for walking on...I mean, I'm not going to walk on every singe part of the floor.

Anyway, my parents are really good about my room. They clean in there once a week (I offer to clean, but I don't usually manage to do a very good job) and that's about as much as I can take. I move everything (except the furniture!) from the floor to the bed and one of them (usually Mum) dusts and hoovers. Except Dad seems to think that his way of doing things is better and on the rare occasion he does clean in there, he moves things round which makes me feel all wrong.

Also, at work, my shelf (with books and CDs I need to label - it's a library) in the workroom got really messy, but I knew where things were, but one day a collegue decided that it was too messy so she moved everything around and tidied it and it did look much nicer, but I felt very embarassed and shaky because I felt intruded upon.

Anyway, that's enough from me lol

My room is always completely trashed, but like the OP I kind of like it that way. I hate it when my mom tries to force me to clean my room. Sometimes she just does it herself, and it feels weird when it's clean. I stopped journaling partly because of her digging through my things. I also had a ton of porn I had to shred because I was so scared she'd find it when she'd go digging through my room. D:

I used to keep my bedroom messy until one day my dad went in, cleaned it up, took some of my stuff, and then showed me the state law that said anything a minor child possesses is the property of his parents. He also made it clear that "my" room wasn't really "mine" at all.

When I left, I had already stashed my best clothes, books, and electronic equipment. It was just a matter of picking it up on my way out of the state. That was 33 years ago.

My dad passed away 4 years ago, and I inherited many of the items that he refused to let me even look closely at as a child.

So, by law, what he possessed is now my property.

Ah the whole room issue. I was always able to tell when my parents went into my room and searched for "illegal artifacts" that i was suspected of doing. Of course in like little pencil boxes which I definitely knew they went into, I wrote little notes for every one writing "SNOOPER". I even put one box in a little area underneath my bed, lol. I always pitched a fit when they moved stuff of mine around, including stuff that wasn't in my room, and would always accuse them when I found stuff was moved.... To add another thing, I hated it whenever I was asked to fold towels, how everyone in my family would start jumping the gun because I didn't "fold it the right way".... who cares? it's folded nicely in general, and will fit nicely into a cabinet or drawer... thank G-d I live on my own now... free to a messy room, and fold things whichever the way I like it. :)

Ugh my parents cleaned out my room just a week after I left for college.
Now I can't find anything that was there before.

they don't bug as much anymore about cleaning my room. when they do annoy me about it then i get really frustrated and cancelout what they're saying. who are you to say what my room looks like? they give me the "are you paying the bills?" comments whenever i verbalize my annoyance. so the fact that you pay the bills means that you can tell me how my room needs to look like look? i honestly thought that was my safe haven not your campaign against dirty socks on floor.
