NeuroTypical refers to those who don't frequent therapists. They are relatively functional, and don't feel impaired. Anyone else, from AS to Schizophrenics is non NT.

That's a very rare thing these days, if you go by the drug ads on TV.
My husband is not AS or NT. I call him "not normal either."

I just go by what I've read.

What problems does your husband have?

Yup, NT is anybody without a mental quirk. That is less than half the population.

Yeah, an NT is basically a person who doesn't have a mental disorder. I'm still wondering if a person with OCD can still be an NT.

I don't consider an OCD person an NT. Look at the Jack Nicholson character in As Good As It Gets. It sure impaired him and how he functioned.

You don't even have to be impaired--would you consider a supergenius "NT"? Being that far off the norm, there's no way you could be considered typical.

NT is now used to describe anyone who is not baseline in neurological function (including psychiatric conditions like depression, and schizophrenia). Originally it was used only to describe non-autistics.

I do not know many NT's. My Dad might be one. But not very much. He does not have autism. But he has obsessions. He focuses a lot on one thing. He can have big tantrums with throwing things and yelling when he is stressed. To many noises stress him. He taught him self programming. He is a software developer. He has his own business. He is the closest to NT in my family. I think NT's are very rear. I think NT's are not typical.

They're the biggest single group of people, though. A plurality, if not a majority.
