No, not always. A large VIQ-PIQ gap doesn't always indicate impairment/disorder. In fact, the more extreme your IQ (either high or low), the more likely that there will be a significant VIQ-PIQ gap (there are actually tables of percentages to work out the likelihood of different size gaps at different IQs). That said, if you have a large VIQ/PIQ gap, and your history suggests NLD, it is worth investigating (as I know you are- good luck! ) . But a large gap on its own is not enough for diagnosis.
