Does anyone else have a specific mental image or "place" they "go to" in their head; either for comfort or when feeling anxious or maybe to help with preventing a MeltDown?

I personally like to imagine myself in the middle of a forest somewhere, miles from anyone else, in a well-built shelter of some sort. I think about it when going to sleep, imagine myself tucked up under thick blankets, warmed by a camp-fire; nowhere near anyone else, and completely separated from the real world... something like this:

I think that might be taking 'going back to nature' a bit too far for me. I'd at least want a log cabin with a roaring fire, a kettle coming to a boil on the hob, a comfy sofa with a tartan blanket and a wifi signal. But otherwise, yeah, sounds good to me.

The Cabin you describe is my ideal home. I want to retire and live in something like that in the middle of dense woodland and see out my twilight years watching Movies and playing Video Games. . .

Yes - mine's a beautiful garden in my head with a strong Japanese theme.

:D

I do. I try to imagine being in the warmth of a loving family. It actually helps me get to sleep.

I am always returning to the Children's Home I spent my only happy and safe years at.
It is a mansion in beautiful grounds in the Kent countryside, only about 11 miles from where I now live.
Frustrating to be so close but of course it is in private hands now.

I was safe there, there was no fear, violence or humiliation.
It was quiet and peaceful.
At night a car might arrive and as it turned into the gravel driveway the lights would arc across the ceiling comfortingly.

50 years later and I am still mentally in that dormitory.

You can see a picture of it if you CLICK THIS

Thanks Nambo!

Sometimes a colleague of mine will give me a lift home in his car.

My colleague is quite a big smoker and his car smells of cigarettes.

The odour takes me back to being about 7 years old sitting in my dad's car and watching him smoking.

He never used to flick the ash. It would just burn all the way down and fall off all over his shirt. (he always wore a shirt and tie).

This is a very happy and safe place in my memory.

You are welcome Babybird, though not sure what I did?
Did I remind you of a safe place from your Childhood?

He had an old Ford Escort in pail blue. I think I can even remember the registration number.

I think that's one of the reasons that I like smoking.

It was like this. I think it is similar to the first image you posted.

It's nice innit?
