Does anyone else think Wrong Planet could and should organize like an association like the NRA. Maybe they could advocate more civil rights type thing. Wouldn't it be cool to know what companies were Aspie friendly for jobs? They could even do a kids wing with programs to help Aspie kids in the school system.

What do y'all think?

Perhaps a non-profit associated w/wrongplanet could help the owner, alex defray costs of some expenses, and provide some additional outreach & activism opportunities.

A non profit can apply for grants & pay members for doing surveys, research, organizing & other ativity associated w/projects.

Not that hard to incorporate a non-profit. I could do it in a couple of days.

I could do a lot of the graphic design and marketing. I do also have experience in fund accounting, but I wouldn't trust myself to run with that one on my own. I'm better off as a right hand than the know it all there.

Maybe we could form a committee of Wrong Planet members to organize the mission and come up with a game plan for approval by Alex.

Do we have a grant writer?

I bet there are plenty of people here who know how to write proposals and get grants already, who would volunteer or advise.

It would be necessary to coordinate w/Alex if this site's resources are used (and would be desirable to compensate him by paying facilities overhead fees to him for any projects that get funded), but not his permission, I think, to organize, etc.

I see what you are saying. Would we want Wrong Planet for the name or a different one? If we went with a different one, we could do everything on our own and do a lot of contributing to the wrong planet net efforts as part of our mission.
