What exactly is an "awkward gait"?

I used to walk with my feet turned out. People we're making fun of me for it later on so I spent forever practicing and now I've got it to where I can walk with my feet straight, but it's hard for me to walk in a straight line. Is that what is considered an awkward gait-- anyone else have the same problem? =x

I've always walked on my toes, and still do. I think that's what it means. Or simply, walking "weird".

it means a number of things from toe walking to a lack of smoothness to something akin to unco-ordination. I know for me, i feel awkward standing and cannot stay still in one spot for linger than a few seconds. I have knock knees and have always tried to "correct" an awkward kind of gait and the fact that i bump into things a lot and bruise my legs. I will stand for short bursts and then sit down -wherever i am - or start moving my legs and my arms and doing my twithces and twists and stretches - much to the chagrin of those around me.

i cannot wear bare feet and HAVE to wear shoes or sandals or thongs at all times. If my feet touch the ground I HAVE TO toe walk because i cannot stand the feel of the ground or floor surface touching my soles. and so, i have a pair of thongs next to my bed and next to the couch. if i go in the pool - my thongs wait like a dear friend by the side of the pool until i get out. feet to floor with no intermediary foot covering makes me feel physically nauseous and i do not know why.

some people also have to toe walk with shoes on because they are so sensitive.

and also, my legs feel and feet feel as if they do not coordinate well with my upper body. that can be another reason for an awkward gait.

My walk is optimised for speed, and so of course it is going to be weird. I have a slightly faster running speed because I walk so fast, and the same muscle group for running is worked on and improved. I have hit a point where it isn't possible to walk faster without jogging for my fast walk, and my normal walk is only slightly slower. I walk fast because I don't like travel time while trying to get somewhere. I live for speed. My walk is optimized for speed such that I can get to top speed faster if I have to run than someone who walks normally.

I've always walked with my feet pointing out. I don't think i've ever been made fun of because of it though, even if I had I don't think i'd worry about changing it though. In the grand scheme of things I don't really see how the way you walk is really that important...lol

My walk is simply unnatural.

I'll sometimes follow patterns on the ground, sometimes walk to varying beats, often vary my stride length in accordance with patterns outside the perception of others.

I'm sure it looks very awkward from a distance.

...that's pretty much normal. Feet are supposed to kick outward when you walk. Maybe if they go out a lot...

I walk with my feet pointing inward and put one foot directly in front of the other, or sometime swing one leg right across the other when I walk. That's pretty unusual, I think. There's probably also something weird about the way I hold my arms or something.

I walk with my feet pointed outward, my knees stiff and my arms rigidly held at my sides. I have been working on moving my arms when I walk, but it is still something that I have to put constant effort into.

i have a limp, but i was born with loose limbs and twisted limbs and alsorts which led me to be braced up from the waist down, and now i still have an inward bend at the knee, and i walk with a limp - when i step with my left foot, the left side of my body dips down ever so slighty, im not sure it can be noticed, but when you're the one with the limp, you feel like the whole worlds staring at you :|
