Anyone else like this? Well, I'm guessing this is an AS trait.
I have the worst short term memory.
I should be at a class party but I forgot what time it starts.
The reason why I forgot is because I asked over the phone what room the party was in.
If I didn't I may have remembered the time.
As I was about to ask what time it was on the person on the other line hung up.
I really hate having a bad short term memory.
I should be be at a party being a bit tipsy right now.

I have terrible short term memory, I'll watch tv and the ads will come on and I'll forget what I'm watching. Even if it's something I'm really into.

I'll forget what I did yesterday.

I'll forget to tidy up or some other chore, like taking the rubbish out.

I'll forget I've already got a particular food and I'll get it again, even if I got it the day before, like bread.

Yep, same here, it is really bad, and I mean bad. For example, I can watch a soccer match and forget a goal I literally saw only a few moments ago. It is, um, really bad.

When I write something down I will forget it as I'm writing the first few words.

Example: Mum, electrician called and... :x

Yeah, short term or what's called "working memory", which is what you use to run a cash register for example typically suffers with autism, while long-term memory improves. I'm the same way. I have actually run registers in the past, but I'm constantly forgetting things that happened a few minutes ago. Meanwhile in spite of never having a use for it, I still remember the formula for the volume of a cone from high-school math classes.

That sounds... dreadful... I mean being at a party and being tipsy at the same time, not missing it. Missing it sucks, but would be a mixed blessing for me. I go to parties mostly because I know I need to network. I'd love to be the kind of person who's comfortable at them, but never have been.

It's class party so I know everyone that would be there. I've never been good parties unless I knew a few people, although alcohol does help to loosen me up. It can have a negative effect too. If I'm not having a good time it will make me feel worse.

to an extent...where was I...;)

I find I don't have as much short-term memory loss as selective hearing (hard of listening).

For example, if someone is introduced to me, it goes

"Hi, this is.............and you know..." my ears shut off as their name is given, almost as if I don't want to know...

I have a list of things I have to get done every day or I wouldn't remember them. I don't think there is anything wrong with my short-term memory. It's just that other thoughts intrude. For instance, I'll be walking to the bathroom to brush my teeth, and on the way, I'll notice that a picture on the wall is crooked, so I'll straighten it, and then I'll think, you know, another picture would work better there, so then I'll go and get the other picture and on the way, I notice that some of the books are unshelved, so I'll put those in the bookcase, and then I can't remember where the hell I started.

Lists are one of life's essentials for me.

Yep, that's what's meant by the term "working memory" -- literaly, memory that allows you to, well... work... The list gives you a way to compensate for not being able to juggle lots of tasks in your head by allowing you to remember just the one task of "check the list" any time you lose track. If your working memory were average, you'd be able to juggle lots of stuff in your head without losing track.

I think I should start doing this. I find I'm bored if I don't plan on things to do.

I did poor to start with, but in the end I got there.
Percent Correct: 16.9811320754717
That's probably really bad.

edit: Percentage score is 30 now. I don't think I'll beat that.
