Sorry I've made quite a few posts today but this is my final one...
I just wanted to know how many other people have these same affects.

I have always been irritated by velvety materials like and the duvet inside the quilt cover.
I always used to and still do rub the material on the patch os skin it touched until it hurt or burned usually leaving a red mark.
I also despise being touched softly especially by my Mum becuase she always has cold hands which when touched I feel a blinding anger and frustration but I just keep it inside as I would never hit anybody on the basis that these are my problems.
I though it was OCD but I had this since I can remmeber and I would be too young to have OCD at around the age of five.

Is it a symptom of Asperger's or is it just obsessions?
And I would really feel at ease if other could relate too,
Thanks.

That's several things, both related to Aspergers.

Many Aspies have (some serious) sensory issues with certain materials, especially with clothing.
I can't stand wool for example (with the exception of Merino)

Most Aspies don't like being touched. Not by strangers anyway, but some even have trouble of that kind with their partner.

Many Aspies are "stimming", repetitive movements, stretching/relaxing muscles and so on, like rubbing fingers at each other. As a child my thumbs where near constantly bleeding (a bit), because I was scratching them without any need.

Ugh, I hate touching people... or even watching other people touch. So, no, you're not entirely alone.

Hi jmfoster,

No, you are not alone. I don't like being touched either, or even for someone to be in close proximity to me.

I also have many stims and rubbing my handing or fingers is one of them, I do it when around people, as I get anxious. Another thing is that I hold a tissue in my hand often, as it comforts me. I just can't be empty handed, or not be doing something, as I begin to feel uncomfortable in my skin and need to calm my mind, as I can be overwhelmed in social interactions.

Same with Aegis, even watching people touching or a scene in a movie where people are touching or being emotional makes me cringe. Generally intimate human contact gets me off balance.

Velvety materials.....I hate to touch them, I always have

OCD can show first symptoms from a very early age but I think you should read some material about it, this is something that people who don't know you can't really answer accurately

Its called, "Sensory Integration Dysfunction" and is comorbid to Asperger's Syndrome. There is also synesthesia which is also comorbid, but to a much lesser degree.

Funny thing with me is that whenever I am in bed I MUST sleep with the cool part of the pillow touching my face AND the cool part of the comforter touching my legs.. it must have a cool feeling in order for me to get comfort.

I hav alot of problems with touch. I only like being hugged by those that I deem harmless, Kids, those that are innocent etc.

I can't sleep if my pillow isn't cold.

I like rubing my cheeks back and forth like a cat with my hand. (I m doing it now infact in between writing this). and I have real problems getting to sleep because I keep tossing and turning so I can rub my body along my bed but since i can never get all of my body to be touching it I have to keep turning.

I when I hold my dad's hand it has to be really really tight almost cutting of my blood pressure.

I can't stand all kinds of dry surfaces, especially dry wood, cheap paper and cardboard. same with cotton balls and all kinds of similar materials.

I noticed that if my hands are dry the sensitivity is much worse so I rub them a lot to keep them at least a little bit moist.

as to touching- same as what you describe. what I hate the most is something I call "the jellyfish handshake"- when someone shakes your hand with no pressure at all. it just gives me the chills and I feel like I need to rub my hand to get rid of that feeling (I know it's considered rude but I can't help it).

all kinds of soft touch are painful, so is poking. I can't imagine a torture worse than tickling.

I work in the food industry, and thank god for the fact that i dont have to touch too many people there and have that sensation. However, I have a new problem... My hands get so dry that they aquire a horrid disturbing rough sensation... and sometimes get cracked, and then itchy beyond my ability to ignore it... I could just use moisterizer, but by the time I think about it, its too late.

anna-banana, I know what you mean about tickling, my dad used to do what he called tickling, and it hurt like nothing else it felt like he was strangling my leg. I'd tell him but he thought I was just being too sensitive or that I was making it up. He found it funny to do it, It took until pubety to get him to stop. It was only as I got older that he accepted that I wasn't making it up. I 've never laughed when anyone touched me in a way other might find ticklish. The best reaction I'll have is my body twitches but doesn't hurt.
