What is the weirdest thing you have melted down to? Mine usually involves some form of loud noises, although my brother's video game melted me down :(

Someone putting plastic Tupperware in the bottom of the dishwasher after I explained that that was warping them and was dangerous because of the heating element that they fell onto and melted on and caused a huge stink..twice. (Still makes me mad). So basically it is anyone being disrespectful .

Christmas. Getting so much awesome stuff at once makes me feel overwhelmed.

I was once told that I would not be going to the doctor that day as scheduled. I hate the doctor's. I hate getting vaccinations and when you're a kid you're always getting them. I didn't want to go. And I had a meltdown anyway because when combined with the usual high baseline stress load, a schedule change was too much to take. Is that messed up or what?

same here.

also, when someone is trying to force me into doing something I don't want to do, my head just explodes.

another big one is being treated unfairly.

not that much from sensory overload, although I can freak out big time in a crowd if I don't manage to flee when I feel it coming.

YES, being treated unfairly makes me explode too, as far as sensory stuff... unless it comes to claustrophobia, I can contain my frenzy feeling pretty well (though my face usually ends up beat read and my head ends up killing me). I usually don't have major sensory issues but when it comes to crowds and REALLY loud noises I get pretty frustrated.

like ana-banana - all of the above.
but i can reach my threshold of noise very quickly and very suddenely - and i just freak.
so i would include sensory overload as well.

in reality, i think i can have pretty awful meltdowns over anything - IF the "anything" is outside of my preconceived notions concerning the day or life or how things are going to be.

Me too, especially when I have to leave my house within the next 2 minutes and the thing I can't find is something like my wallet or my left shoe.

I guess meltdowns are what would happen to NT's if you knocked out their executive function, severely reducing the ability to control their own behaviour.

And isn't that the essence of AS ?

Executive dysfunction.

I meltdown if things aren't done at a certain time. If it was 1pm and I hadn't had lunch at 12pm I would start having a meltdown. I often get them from too much noise happening at once. And people being rude to me.

Guitar Hero...that's the last time I ever play the singing part of that game. My brother would glare at me every time we didn't win, and blame the whole thing on me :'(

Amen. That statement is so significant and deeply identifiable, it just hits me in the chest.
How many times has this happened to me...................................................................

Aww, that's not fair.

I can admit that losing to someone in a video game can lead to a mini meltdown. I avoid playing video games now and just watching everyone else have so much fun playing is enough to send me into another meltdown. I remember one night when that happened. I thought the fact that I ran down stairs and climbed into my then boyfriends bed crying was because of how much alcohol I had to drink, but it wasn't.
