I'm I the only one who really likes using emoticons? It is a lot easier because I don't have to actually make facial expressions, and their only necessary to convey strong emotions.

I dunno...;)

Actually, the one I use the most I always thought was 'it's an inside joke, get it?'...turns out to be sarcasm. People must think I'm Mr. Meany...;)

Well that would depend a lot, the simple ones are ok, the sad or happy face (2 basic smileys) are fine, simple and objective, now, other things such as rolling-eyes, wink, blush, the :S thing. those become abstract and though they are most often context related, one has to study the said context to figure it out. i just end up asking the person to explain the emoticons.

Me, too. They have grown on me.
Some of them say a lot.
I love this one -- :wall:

At least with emoticons, I can tell a smile :D from a frown. :(

I don't think that I have ever used an emoticon here or on any other board. Then again, I never liked smiley faces to begin with. I don't know if it has anything to do with AS, or if I was simply born a grumpy old man.

I like using them if I'm casually chatting with someone, because I feel it helps express the intented emotion behind the words. If I feel that whatever I type might come across as sarcastic when really I mean it in a light hearted way, then I just add in a happy little smiley :) .
