Something's wrong but I don't know what. I feel really agitated but I don't know why. I don't know what I feel except that I, for some reason, feel agitated and just...wrong. Everything bothers me right now. The sounds my chair makes, the way the clothes feel against my body (especially my socks and my sweater). I can't focus on anything and I can't really sit still. I don't know what to do with myself but I just feel like screaming or hitting something or flail/shake my arms violently or something (I don't know why I feel like doing that). I don't know much right now. All I know is that I don't like feeling this way.

Do you ever have days when you feel like this? Do you know why you (and me) feel that way?

Yep...I have days like this!

I'm sorry you're going through these irritations.

It's possible that you "got off at the wrong side of the bed" in American slang.

{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}

Maybe a good meal would make things better.

Or maybe some kind of calming tea.

Or pursuing your Special Interest.

But it's 5pm over here. I woke up at 6am and I was doing quite okay until about one hour ago. (I thought "getting off at the wrong side of the bed" is something that is done in the morning, or am I wrong?)

That's correct.

I guess I screwed up on the time difference. It's morning here.

My previous advice still stands.

Yep.

I get days like this when I haven't had enough "me time" and/or work gets to me. It seems to build and come out as irritability, a migraine or worst case scenario, a Meltdown

Good morning to you.

Anyway, I don't even know if I have a "special interest" (what is a "special interest" anyway? I mean, how is it defined?), unless reading and learning things count as special interests. I can't even focus on reading. Tried but I only managed to read 30 pages or so. I'm mostly just pacing right now.

A "special interest" is something that you are REALLY interested in--sometimes to an extreme degree.

You seem to be interested in autism. Maybe you could Google the latest autism research? Or tell us why we shouldn't self-diagnose LOL

What I do, if I feel tense, is I sit down and massage myself. I also try to remember nice things from the past.

:D :D :D Joke of the day!

Back on topic:

I have bad hours and days like this. I have learned that it's good not to fight it, because I never win. Better to focus on something pleasant and distracting and wait for it to pass. Sometimes this is a good time to listen to sounds (e.g., surf, heavy rain, star trek engine noise) but sometimes that is annoying too. Sometimes sleep is the best thing.

I'm very interested in psychology and neuroscience but I mostly just pursue those interest by reading books and watching documentaries. And sure, autism interests me. I've actually read quite a few articles about it lately, though mostly about sensory issues and not about self-diagnosis (I think that was a joke though, right?).

This happens to me too. Something very small can trigger it and I'll feel stressed out and frustrated for the rest of the day. Every little annoyance from then on is magnified. My room mate has commented on this once and I didn't really know how to explain it. It's hard to explain when you, yourself, don't fully understand why you feel that way. :?

Sort of sounds like akathisia.

But that's not something one experiences for only a day at a time as far as I know, so I dunno.

Not exactly, in my case. I usually know what's making me feel anxious or unbalanced, though I can't understand why the feelings are so out of proportion to the causes.

Are you feeling better now, Rebbieh?

There's LOTS in psychology to read about, as you probably know.

Are you interested in abnormal psychology?

My guess is that eberryone has days like this, when they can't focus on anything and feel agitated or discombobulated. I don't know why it happens, but it seems to happen to me when I am not under a lot of pressure to get some specific thing done. Or when I want to procrastinate from something.

A special interest is one thing that someone pursues intensely, e.g. spends all of free time doing, spends much of other time doing or thinking about, thinks about most of the time, chooses the activity over other activities most of the time.

Yeah, touchy, jumpy, fidgety etc. Hate it. I just call it wired. Have no idea what exactly causes it. I will say it's worse when I get it on a day I didn't get enough sleep.
