Cure people draw parents away from parenting. While the parents should be embracing the kids they have, learning to plan for a realistic future for their kids, instead the parents bond together like some religious revival about how they're going to get their real kids out of inside the ones they have now. Group denial until the future catches up to them. Then they realize they should have spent their time getting to accept their kids rather than spending time and money on their cure obsessions.

It's like having a blind kid, buying some beautiful picture books for that kid that you're saving for the day that they can see.

I'm not against research to help make life easier for problems associated with autism but these cure people don't encourage acceptance of your kids as who they are. They encourage grieving for the child you could have had and hoping you'll get that kid back.

Cure Autism Now
check out this guy; he's funny as heck.
He gets two negative comments, so he disables comments on the video.
I like the anonymous quote I left on his profile

More than half of those 1 in 150 have Asperger's

link

"a 1993 study in Sweden found the incidence of AS to be around 1 in 300 children. ..."

We need to figure out a way to let our voice be heard. Maybe if most aspies weren't so f*****g apathetic about the media, we'd actually be able to organize and make a difference. (before you try to argue differently, groups like AFF are just contributing to the negative stereotype of Autism in this world.) We need a positive campaign to show what we're really like.

Maybe if we made a slick video of our own, we could fight back?
Register a website, aspiesspeak.com , and get the message straight!

Though, everyone says there is a difference between autism and aspergers; people with aspergers are eloquent in their modes of communication, while lower functioning autistics are very bad at it. It might just reinforce that feeling in people.

Who do you suggest starts it? Do you have any ideas of publicity stunts that can be pulled? We know there is a problem, its how we do something about it what matters. Maybe someone needs to take over the NAS or something...

We need a leader with the time and energy to do it. I probably dont have the resources nor the inclination myself at the moment. I suppose if Autism Speaks or someone has a freepost we could send bucket loads of crap to them...

This glossary contains over a hundred video clips and is available to you free of charge. Whether you are a parent, family member, friend, physician, clinician, childcare provider, or educator

...or someone with autism... whaddaya mean, no?
