Was very disappointed on how it was, this is my second time actually going, first time the place got rescheduled at the last min and i freaked out, had a huge meltdown and tried to jump out of the car, so we didnt even bother going in the place or actually meeting anybody and its an hour drive so i guess you can tell wasnt a good day... this time we actually went in the place to meet ppl, only one other person showed up! Was so upset, but got to meet Tahitiii from wp, so that was really cool! If your reading this Tahitiii, hope you liked meeting me as well, wondering what ya thought of me? Anyways for the future if anybody wants to meet up and is in NJ, lemme know, love to meet ppl. My bf also loves hanging with aspies and auties, he says were more fun then NTs anyways hehehe.

Going to a support group would be a fun experience, but I live in a more remote area. If a support group were to come up, it would probably be at least an hour and a half drive.

I used google. There's a group here in Boston called the Aspergers Association of New England (AANE). There's one based out of New York called GRASP that sets up local groups in different areas. They don't have one in Maryland, but you might be able to start one there. Contact them and see if there's a possibility of setting up a MD group if you can't find a group in MD already.

There has been a support group in my area, but it seems that it mostly caters to parents. I go to help out the parents anyway. A new group is also forming for those with Aspergers. I have been thinking about going, but I don't know how much I will have in common with those who have Aspergers.

Oh GRASP has a page on their site about starting new groups as a part of their network:

There's monthly meetings in Flagstaff. Not sure how far that is from you.

You just do a google search for it. Also watch the newspaper for meeting announcements.

Hi Age1600. I am glad you finally got to attend your group meeting even if there was only one person there. Maybe it was meant to be that way as you got to meet someone from the wrongplanet. I just attended my third therapy session yesterday and felt it went well, even though it drained me emotionally. For this meeting, my wife and two sons attended and they all got to make feedback about my issues. In my first meeting, the therapist suggested I might look up a group to attend. But I am not sure of any in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Good luck on your meetings.

Even though you dont have anything in common doesnt mean its not fun. Hopefully tahitii will come on and tell ya her experience around me haha because i didnt even speak, all i did was stim, that includes opening and closing the soda thing over and over hahah. I always love meeting ppl though, and so does my bf, so its defintely worth it, especially didnt imagine meetin another wper hehe.

u can go to the groups if ur nt, im sure anybody is welcome as long as ur understanding and accepting of the people with ASD. idk how it works, when i was there, only one other person besides my bf, which was tahitiii and i didnt talk lol. i think its just a time you can meet up with a group of ppl who all share similiar problems i think.

Age 1600, it makes me happy to read that you have such a supportive bf,
someone who treats you right. It helps me remember that maybe there are
some people who can be trusted.
