If someone asks you a question that either requires thought, or you have to struggle to remember something, you often tend to look a certain direction.

Why is this relevant to WP?

Well from what I have heard, what direction you look can be a sort of a gateway to how your brain is coordinated or wired. Generally NTs may look one direction where as other types of people may look other ways, but not always. I don't know alot about this, a cool dyslexic teacher of mine brought it up once, so I thought this could be a neat test.

I have also noticed, while alot of people will look a direction, what ever is that direction, um, some people try to grab at it like Bill Gates. When he is explaining something, he'll use wide hand gestures, and when he is struggling to think of something he grabs out in that direction that you'd normally look. Its like, 'there is something up there, let me try to think up there with my eyes, oh wait thats not enough, I'll just grab it'...

Oh sorry guys I forgot to add the bottom right option for the poll. Well if that is your choice you can just post it.

I don't think you can edit a poll...

I should have previewed this first.

Well, to answer your poll, I had to think about it.
And when I did, I noticed that I looked to the upper left.
So there you go.

Interesting ideas.

This was an interesting one. I also had to think, and as I did, I looked at the bottom left. I never thought about this before. I guess I always did that. Cool poll. :D

I, too look to the upper left. Never gave it much thought. Any links or summarized information on how this translates would be oh-so appreciated.

Interesting question. As I was thinking about the answer, my eyes went to the bottom left, so I guess that's my answer, lol.

I am the original poster, and I can't even think of the answer to my own poll right now. I can't think of a question that I would have to think so hard about, also if I thought of one, subconsciously I might be thinking about the direction thing too much which might unnaturally influence the direction I look. I would need a placebo effect.

Also I am going to post this on myspace (I will get plenty of NT responses and I can compare them to here). Also I hope I don't get flamed

Top left usually, I've notices that this year. I thought it was because the window is usually on my left though... I may look to the right (top too) when there is a nice picture or a window but last year there was no window on the left and I still looked there most.

Does that mean anything ? I'm right-handed...

To the left topic

Actually, when I think about it, I look top right.

What about a link to this study? What do these directions mean?

Straight up. When I think about something it looks like I am rolling my eyes up in my head.

I've had this discussion with friends who are deaf and use sign language to communicate.
They have to maintain eye contact through out a conversation because they don't know if they're being understood unless they constantly read body language feed back
but
they tell me when stating something that happened in the past they glance a milli-second to the left
and for something that they anticipate happening in the future they will glance a milli-second to the right.

(I've wondered if that is a programming if literacy and if just the opposite happens in Deaf cultures that use a written language written right to left.)

Part of the acknowledging body language of a "listener" (person actively watching sign language) is to make those milli-second glancings as well.

I've met many Hearing people who have to close their eyes to seriously think an answer to questions.
They'll talk with their eyes closed as if they're reading the information off the inside of their eye lids.
