Sometimes, when I get hungry, I start to "space out," in that my eyes are there, but somehow I feel a little bit more distant from where I am? I don't know something like that, and then of course all I can think about is eating, and sometimes it becomes unbearable...

You know in the movies when someone is just about to have a seizure, or when they're about to pass out...they go to grab something, and their arm movement is all jointed and awkward, kinda rapid paced? Like when you see someone having a withdrawl and they reach for that cigarette: it's rushed and uncoordinated. That's what I feel I'm doing. Yet, when I look at my arm, I'm not doing that.

Does anyone else get like this? If so, is this a type of "seizure," for lack of a better word?

You might want to ask your Dr to assess you for hypoglycemia or diabetes - some kind of blood sugar problem. Since the brain runs only on blood sugar, low blood sugar means your brain is running out of fuel and can cause a huge variety of symptoms. (I've been diabetic for 42 years and have had some really weird experiences from low blood sugars)

Edit: For sure I think you should let your Dr know about this.

I don't know if this helps, but...it goes away after I eat...

Still sounds to me like it might be blood sugar, then. You really should let your Dr know.

Those definitely sound like they could be symptoms of low blood sugar. I second that you should mention this to your doctor and get it checked out.

I have hypoglycemia and can get the shakes when my blood sugar gets too low. It really feels like an emergency. As everyone else is saying, definitely talk to your doctor about this, and if he/she doesn't give you a decent answer, find another who will.

It's a simple blood test for hypoglycemia, and if that's what it is, it's pretty easy to treat. The doc should be able to tell you more about that as well.

I get the same exact thing and you described it perfectly. I don't really have seizures or twitch, just I feel like I am completely distant. When that happens, I just go eat and it stops. My sister has hypoglycemia, and there's a strong family history of diabetes. However, I absolutely will not go for a blood test, it's not simple for me and any kind of needle poking I will go to great lengths to avoid - I never even get vaccinated for the flu when it comes around.

FerrariMike_40,
its not a proper needle that they use its different,am have had the same thing used for diabetic testing done by paramedics, its not even visible and they put it next to finger, click it-and it very quickly pushes a tiny little hole in the skin just enough so that a little bit of blood can come out to be used, and its so small that it all dries up quickly-may find this test easier to cope with than injections.

there are these special wee test stick things can get, that test for blood sugar level, dad is non insulin dependant diabetic and gets a tube of these prescribed from doctor, these are held in the wee not for long and it has a colour coding thing on the tube to match the stick to,which shows how low or high it is,he even tests sam [cat, insulin dependant diabetic] with these by holding it under her bum when shes having a wee on the litter tray.
dont think they are as good as finger prick testing but these could give self some idea if are unable to do the finger prick test, think these can be bought without prescription, have seen the same ones he gets on a pet medical supplies website dad gets insuvet lente off.
