I find them very attractive and they make my imagination go. To think of all secret society stuff going on in the world, really make me mad, but it still catches me.
Do you believe or not?

I'm not sure if I beleive them or not - undecided. But I love reading them!! :D
I agree with what you said mosez, I find it very interesting to think about the secret society stuff. Actually, I'm sure it does exist in some form. There's just not enough evidence either way to prove anything.

I do believe there are huge conspiracies in the western/US medical industry, though. I mean come on it's been more than 30 years of cancer research and chemo is still the best thing you've come up with??? Doctors are taught their craft from books paid for by the drug companies so most of them are pill pushers unwilling to consider anything natural. Psychs are the same way. I don't trust them. And of course any natural remedies that are developed are driven from the country on trumped up accusations.

I like conspiracy theories, they interest me. I like the dark side of life, in a way.

I believe that 9/11 WAS an inside job. The official story has more holes than a crumpet that's been attacked with a BB gun.

I find them fascinating. Don't believe most of them, but certain ones (JFK) are irresistible. When you look at the odd details surrounding some incidents, it's hard to not believe.

And don't get me going about all these 'socieities' to 'cure' this and that ! !! !! !!

I find them almost universally silly. They tend to postulate a degree of coordination and control which is utterly laughable in the context of governments who can't usually organise a... drinking session in a brewery.

See holes/crumpet/BBgun remark.

If they pulled off the conspiracy properly, we wouldn't know about it, right?

I found an interesting article which explains (although not directly) why conspiracy theories might appeal to an aspie mind

Quote:
Whitson and Galinsky demonstrated the link between desiring control and seeing patterns through a set of experiments that used a variety of psychological tricks to induce feelings of insecurity among groups of volunteers. With these tricks, they managed to induce a number of different illusions - increasing the risk of seeing false images, making links between unrelated events, creating conspiracy theories and even accepting superstitious rituals. Superficially, all of these behaviours seem quite different but they all involve seeing patterns where none exist. They have a common theme and now, this study suggests that they have a common motive too.

That Reptillian one is indeed funny, yes. I cannot believe people actually believe this stuff!

I like reading conspiracy theories, and I've made up some myself, and I don't think they're that bad! There's a lot to illogical to believe, and sometimes ''believers'' assume something they think is scientifically proven and used as a term in science, whilst they just didn't get something and therefore misunderstood, which ended up in a theory with wrong evidence. Every time I discover such a mistake it annoys me. Some theories actaully are quite believable, considering the human mind and history. However, a lot of it is just vague crap. I like reading them, and thinking about them myself, making up all sorts of conspiracies. It's just fun, and a seek for the truth.

BUT MOST OF THEM ARE NONSENSE! Don't see me as some New Age spiritistic type.

I tend to take conspiracy theories with a grain of salt, but my (very ASish) mom will believe any one that is handed to her. She used to carry a camera around with her so she could photograph chem trails. She thinks Paul is dead, she has been talking for years about the reptilians...and so on...

yeah I quite like inventing them myself. I spent one summer obsessively trying to find a link between a few strange (and totally unrelated) occurrences that had happened in my area within a short period of time. I didn't believe there was a genuine link, I just wanted to spread some disinformation and mess with peoples heads hehe.

I never found it though. :(

What do you consider a conspiracy theory? In my opinion the NWO and illuminati theories hold some water. However, I find it very hard to believe that the world will end in 2012 because that's the exact same thing they said about y2k. They said that in the year 2000 all computers and systems would malfunction and thus send the human race in a downward spiral. Besides a few minor malfunctions, the y2k deal was just a big hype.

Personally, I don't think all that Y2K nonsense counts as a conspiracy theory, as there was no real "conspiracy", per se. That was superstition, which is a totally different thing.

I believe in the NWO and Illuminati too. I also mistrust teachers at school, because as far as I'm concerned they're paid by the government, and are therefore part of the conspiracy. DeLoreanDude and I think school is all a big conspiracy to turn everyone into dumb clones. Sound ridiculous? Well, take a look at the masses of schoolchildren. Working, is it not?

Also, chemtrails...do you think staying inside would protect you from them?

I second that. The 911 conspiracy is one that I strongly believe in.

Yeah, read you. Not all theories are real. Sometimes they just put out theories to confuse, if you see what I mean.

It is true that the education system is only as good as the government makes it and they also only teach you in school what they WANT you to know. Many teachers I've had in the past were no smarter (and sometimes less) than their students. As for chemtrails, I'm really not sure if they are real or not though I do believe it is very possible.
