There are many regular posters I'd like to know more about, and I'd like to interview them, right here on a thread. Do you think it's a good or bad idea?

The questions would be open-ended, leaving room to answer or not, as little or as much as the guest desires. No compromising, unsafe or nosey questions, of course, and I repeat, there's always the perfectly welcome option of saying "I'll skip that one. Next question." The interview could be stopped by the guest at any time as they feel like, with absolutely no hard feelings. The only requirement would be to share seriously, since hopefully many members would be reading and benefitting from another's story.

People could PM me to volunteer themselves to be interviewed or to suggest members they'd like me to interview. Or they could make the suggestions on this thread.

Everyone would be welcome to ask the guest questions too, as long as they remain respectful and serious at all times.

Sounds good. Not sure how an interview would be done in the context of a thread, but you could try it.

If you need anyone to interview, I'll volunteer.

I don't see why not, most people here seem to be pretty open anyway.

A Checklist of Aspie traits would be neat and pretty convenient.

Also basic background stuff too.

matrix, those are excellent suggestions. I hope you pose those questions on the interview thread, or at least remind me to ask them. Hey, even Oprah has other brains behind her show...

I think that's a great idea, and the general parameters you set out seem perfectly fair.
There is a lot I'd like to know about some people on here, too. Could be a very helpful thing.
I'll go first, if you want!

I think that sounds like a very interesting idea. I think you should go for it.

Hm.... sounds like a good idea. I sometimes think how I really would get along with some of the posters here. With most of the ones that I feel I've learned to know a bit, I feel like I would indeed get to know them better, sit down and talk with ( you are one of them). Others make me feel like I've known them my whole life (not many), they could be my buddy right away.
Others make me uncertain, as they seems a bit reserved towards me.

I don't see why not. I could volunteer if you needed more.

There is a neat little checklist in the book Diagnosing Jefferson

Other links to lists

Also, brief history of obsessions would be cool.

I can see one problem. It's possible other forum members will drop in on the interview and make inappropriate comments. So perhaps have a rule about what others can add to the thread? (I.e. questions only?)

I've seen similar on other forums, private members-only forum part and topics with interviews were locked too right away. A lot of people liked these interviews. Getting to know more about others... getting a glimpse of their human side... and so on.

I have a freind who is in the radio broadcast business and he interviews people over the telephone and then cuts it to an mp3 for people to download and play at their liesure. A similar thing could be done using skype and then you just have to post the links to the interviews. Seems simpler than the thread-post-post- format but I'm open to anything.
