Does anyone else find it physically frustrating to sit and work at a desk, like when using a desktop computer? My muscles get kind of spasmy, and a lot of physical stress builds up. I use my notebook computer 99% of the time because sitting at a desk feels really wrong, and I'd rather curl up on the couch with my computer. Does any one else feel this? Is it an AS thing?

Yes, I get really antsy and tense, and I find I'm constantly looking for excuses to stand up and walk around when at the office. I'm okay with desktop computers when researching obsessions, however.

I sit at a desk, but I use an exercise ball for my chair. I can stim, twitch and just plain bounce when ever I care to and it always feels just right. It also promotes me sitting up straight so my spine feels good.

Sometimes I find it hard to sit at a desk. I can do usually when at the computer but at school and doing work on the computer forget it. Computer class is torture for em always moving my chair and stuff.

I work in an office. I’m usually pretty wound up by the time I get out of work each day.

I can’t turn off the bright florescent lights above my cube.

The people in the row next to me are from the circus it seems and never shut up.
+
My row get’s traffic from people going to a conference room.
+
Our new vice president’s office is at the end of my row and she passes by my dest about 20 times a day.
=
I’m ready for home and some music by quitting time.

That's a really cool idea! I'll have to look into one of those!

I've always hated desks & I get really anxious when I have to sit at them for long periods of time. I'm starting school tomorrow & will have to sit at desks for hours & am not looking forward to it.

Absolutely. Can't stand sitting at a desk and working. I want to kick the desk away. Like the poster above, I seem to have no problem at a desk if it's something I'm interested in. Also I can't concentrate on anything while standing up. My shins itch and I need to walk around. If I was a gal and had to put on makeup, I'd lose my mind. It's nice to be able to talk about this to people who are just as odd as I.

I was doing fine until computers came along. There's no room for the papers now. I can't solve it. Those keyboard-drawer contraptions are much too wobbly.

I used to believe I wasn't clumsy because I don't have many accidents, but then I realised I always try hard to render my working environment very uncluttered so that I don't need good co-ordination, and when I have to work in even the slightest clutter, I slow down a lot which annoys me.

So my cluttered desk slows me down and makes my work an uncomfortable experience.

I can't work at all, as I just can't get anything done.

well as a 'gal' I can let you know you don't have to put on makeup. Of course, people think the worst of you ( and especially if your blouse is modest and you are not spilling out of)if your face is not caked with the latest and greatest powder and pastes. I don't care anymore. Soap and water clean is what they get. (so sue me!)
