Saying at more length what I said in the headline , Is the Obama/Congress-passed " Stimulus " in the USA going to include any pay-out to SSI/D(as am I,most of my money income now  ) :( /similar recipients ?
I get less than $100 monthly from SSI , it's mostly SSD that I get .
Frankly , I assume that many of us here do receive SSI/D/similar , that are in the USA , so this is a very relevant question .
BTW , it appears that I cannot re-write/change my " aption " (whatever the words are for what's underneath my icon) at all :P ! !! !! !! !! !!
I do not have a computer :( , I am splurging on an In ternet cafe now , as there'll be less than $100 in my card after I pay something up...

I really do not think so. I think the stimulus is designed to add to everyone's paychecks a little at a time rather than one lump sum in hopes that we will simply spend the small amount of extra money rather than save or payoff a huge lump sum.

The rest of the money goes to various construction and pork projects around the country.

i've been told to expect to pay $10 a week less in taxes (federal taxes, not state). But I do not collect any sort of aid. Apparently, from www.ssa.gov (the Fed page), you should get a one-time check for $250 if you are on disability. The copy below if from the Fed website. Enjoy! :D

President Obama recently signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This act provides for the one-time payment of $250 to individuals who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security benefits.

We expect everyone who is entitled to a payment to receive it by late May 2009. No action is required on your part.

We are currently working on the details regarding how we will issue nearly 55 million one-time payments to our beneficiaries.

When more information becomes available, we will promptly post it here. Please bookmark this site and check back regularly. Thank you.

The main purpose of the stimulus package is to create jobs, so I doubt any of it will benefit SSI/SSDI recipients. I'm not sure though.

I believe the plan is that they "give" us cash, and we spend it, and that causes goods and services to be in demand = jobs....

I just looked at the SSA website and I am happy I will be receiving the one-time payment in May!

:)

I was very pleasantly surprised.

The "stimulus" package is NOT to create jobs! They mention that it is, often, ONLY to take the money! The purpose is to rip off the American public, and BRIBE people. Although the $250 will NOT create jobs, will probably NOT help you get back on your feet, and may not help you AT ALL, it WILL be something they can mention, and a way to bribe people. They won't say that the various people, like ME, actually paid it, etc.... NOPE! They will say OBAMA or "the OBAMA administration" did and, by extension, the democrats.

Obama as much as ADMITTED that when he said "What do you think a STIMULUS IS? SPENDING MONEY!"!

http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archiv ... 016775.php

Quote:
'Well, this is not a stimulus bill, this is a spending bill.' What do you think a stimulus is? That's the whole point. No, seriously. That's the point."

And that is a DEMOCRAT spun site. As for upgrading the fleet? If you do it, it REALLY doesn't help the economy, and you are using money earned by others that they might spend on electricity and the like to SURVIVE! Money EMPLOYERS might use to hire workers, or increase business. THAT means the infrastructure is better supported. As for that helping the government cut costs, that will take YEARS to be realized. If I went out and bought a prius, a base model would cost $22,000. If I drove the standard mileage, and it lived up to its BEST claims, it would cost 621.88/year. I figure my current car, under the same circumstances, costs less than $1039.21/year. That is a savings of 417.33/year. The prius would pay for itself in about 53 years(not counting interest). And the old vehicles need to be disposed of. The plan is short sighted at best. Why don't we wait until the vehicles are moved out of service, because servicing isn't economical, etc...., and phase the new ones in? After all, that is what *I* have always done! That is what I WILL do.

WRONG obama! A stimulus, in this context, is an action that IMPROVES THE ECONOMY! Even GREENSPAN, and people NOW, if you listen carefully, say that CUTTING taxes stimulates the economy. When carter went in office, and raised taxes, etc... we had a new, practically unknown animal! STAGFLATION!! !! !! !

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stagflation

Quote:
Stagflation is an economic situation in which inflation and economic stagnation occur simultaneously and remain unchecked for a period of time.[1] The portmanteau "stagflation" is generally attributed to British politician Iain Macleod, who coined the term in a speech to Parliament in 1965.[2][3][4] The concept is notable partly because, in postwar macroeconomic theory, inflation and recession were regarded as mutually exclusive, and also because stagflation has generally proven to be difficult and costly to eradicate once it gets started.

http://economics.about.com/od/useconomi ... lation.htm

Quote:
But the most important element in the war against inflation was the Federal Reserve Board, which clamped down hard on the money supply beginning in 1979. By refusing to supply all the money an inflation-ravaged economy wanted, the Fed caused interest rates to rise. As a result, consumer spending and business borrowing slowed abruptly. The economy soon fell into a deep recession.

Democrats can say what they want, but I think it is interesting that Carter did this! In fact THAT is when real estate really started taking off. Prices kept climbing because of inflation. I have been saying for YEARS that clinton set the stage for it to happen again! And now OBAMA is setting it up to happen AGAIN.

As for his statement about earmarks, HE said he would STOP that! He said there would be a CHANGE! Did I believe him? NOPE! But I am only saying he didn't do what HE said he would!

But you will probably get the $250. Like I said, it may not do ANYTHING for you. For what it is worth, I hope that DOES become the now fabled butterfly. The minor thing that corrects everything. WHO KNOWS? Maybe everyone will buy an Ipod and build Apple into the #1 computer company on the planet. Maybe they'll all go out to tacobell and, like on "demolition man", make taco bell the only restaurant around. HEY, you can buy a LOT of meals at tacobell for $250!
