Until about 10 minutes ago I was of the opinion that complaining about intrusive, flashy ads was a bit silly. I'd never been bothered by them before. Sites like this need ads, so what's all the fuss about eh?

So picture this scene; I'm at home, alone, browsing these forums on my computer. There's a dog barking outside, but everything else is silent. It's cold, friday night. Everyone else is out, except me, being a reclusive typical AS computer bloke. I haven't put my headphones on yet, because I haven't played any games, mp3s or anything like that - but I do play them loud. My coat is on top of my headphones, on my bed, because that's where I casually dumped it when I came in the room.

I think the dog briefly stopped barking or I had stopped noticing

Confused panic briefly gripped me after hearing a very chilling, muffled; "Helloooooo?", from an unrecognisable seemingly distressed female and very ethereal voice. I nearly fell out of my chair. After composing myself I grasped my mouse again and heard the same again. At this point I might have wet myself if I hadn't realised that this was caused by mousing-over an advert for smileys.

Good God they've given these things voices now? Smileys are sinister enough by themselves. Maybe I'm just an oversensitive, paranoid wimp - but I'm scared, make them go away... mommy...

I don't know about noise bacause the noise of my computer annoys Claire, so the sound is usaully down, but what does creep me out is the spider. I downloaded Firefox so am now able to block it off, when I remember how, " Ah Ben how do I do this again?" Quick click and it's gone. I can now sit in my chair again. :D But I do love the smileys for the message board.

I even hate the name "Smiley". I've been bullied and called that so much for my stimming, because I go around with a huge grin when I stim because I'm really scared of people.

All these answers freak me out. So I say none of the above if we had one.

Wicked smilies, Liorda!
For some reason, the smilies in the ads don't make sound on my computer. But I wish these could........

i like these but the two devil posts struck fear in my heart
i just don't understand them. there are too many that are smiling and i never know which to use for what, even after reading the description. sometimes the description does not seem to match the expression. surprised looks like smiling. and there isn't one for just plain upset. the rolling eyes is easy to understand but i don't know when i would use it; i think because my mother taught me it was impolite.

i think it means something is unbelievable. like yeah, right. but my mother taught me something else, that if you did it it was to sass someone (though i'm not sure about what sassing is). girls did it all the time as an insult.
