How many of you like to stim by listening to a song or music album over and over again? Also did you ever make your parents, siblings, etc. listen to the same cassette, CD etc. while on road trips?

I like stimming to Jeffree star's music I have listened to nothing but his music since January 9th.

oh yea definatly! I'm obsessed with certain sounds in music and I always listen to my iPod at night. It's very relaxing.
I don't normally make my family listen to it because to me it's a private thing. I don't know why.. but sometimes I'll take over the living room and listen to my ipod and I'll cringe if I hear my parents comeing down or wanting to use the living room.

Yes, I do this most of the time.
I fixate on a song or album for a day, week, or longer.

Lately it's been:
The Beatles - The White Album (in particular "Happiness is a Warm Gun")
Radiohead - OK Computer (in particular "No Surprises")
The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (in particular "Are You a Hypnotist?")

I will listen to these individual songs or albums over and over again and again.
Next week it may be something else entirely.

I also play several instruments and compose my own music.
A lot of it is repetitive, almost drone-like.
Other people who've listened to it tell me that it is terribly boring, like the hearing same thing over and over again and again. I always wonder why they have a problem with that. To me, it is endlessly interesting.

I listen to songs for days/weeks. When I was younger, I was listening to the same song for months and longer. But these days, there's just too much awesome music to listen to to have the same songs on for more than a few weeks.

I have been doing this for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid I made cassettes and I made my family play the same one the entire road trip to visit family out of state. We had a foreign exchange student stay with us one summer and it drove him nuts. I still do that now. I get obsessed with one cd or set of songs on itunes and listen to it exclusively for weeks.

Always! Right now the song is Spotlight, but it varies all the time, I can't get enough of it.

When I was a kid I would watch the movie Shipwrecked like 4 times a day and act it out.

Yep I like listening to the same song over and over again anyway so I do it while stimming, too, which I do a lot.

Yeah, I do this a lot.

Here's a really good example: One time, back when I was twelve, I was visiting the UK and we were driving from England to Scotland at the time. I listened to the song "All Star" probably for six hours straight. After that, my CD player died and even when I replaced the batteries, it never worked again.

Nowadays, I just listen to my iPod. One song on it has apparently been played more than 235 times, according to iTunes.

I use to ask my mum to watch me perform it and she was always amazed that I knew every line.

Most recently for me is Deja Vu from TWEWY, the full length version, which is the extended version of a song from the international version of a game made by Square Enix, called The World Ends With You. The song is quite addictive, as with all the music from that game.

I generally listen to a particular playlist, preferably in order, day after day, for anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month or two. Usually the change of seasons will also usher in a new (or recycled) playlist. The Mamma Mia soundtrack managed to hold on to the top spot for about four months.

I do it all the time. So often, I'm eventually sick of them and need to find a new band every 2 months or so xD.

Absolutely...I like to play the same songs over and over. I also play musical instruments and I often like to play the same thing over and over again. I know this drives my wife and family insane...but...I like it---the music that is.

When I was in college, I used to listen to the Synergy tape Metropolitan Suite in my car as I drove the one and a half hour trip to and from Ohio University every day. Yes...I drove it every day---I was on the road three hours a day.

On the Hammond organ, I love to play the Beatles' song "Something". My favorite piece to play on the organ at my church is Dvorak's "Humoresque", and the southern gospel song "Goodbye World Goodbye".

I didn't realize this was stimming. But I can see where it would be now.

i stim while listening to a song i enjoy and i'll sometimes listen to the same song many times, either back to back or interspersed with other songs but with the one i like being played frequently.

when i was younger and we'd drive to my grandparents' place (about 2hrs away) we would always listen to either the magical flute, bach comes to call, or beethoven lives upstairs. now i don't impose these on other people but i used to.
