An 18 year old boy in my area (of england) is accused of murdering a young girl and has also assaulted another in the past. He also has A.S., as the news reporters constantly point out.

This is also after Jill Dando's suspected murderer was also revealed in the news to have AS.
Do think it's fair that the only press coverage we get is showing us as rapists, pedophiles and murderers? It would be nice to see someone with a positive AS story in the news for a change, particulary as those reports are all most people are hearing of A.S.

he's been found guilty- the judge did say that he didnt think the boy's AS had anything to do with it but that the crime was sexually motivated- not sure that most people would take notice of that though. His parents say that they think his autism made him an easy target for police.

The pathologist also ruled that there was no sexual element, the judge decided to superimpose one anyway to set the lad up as media-fodder and diminish any chance of his parents getting public support for an appeal.

There is a saying among lawyers: "If you have the facts, get them on the facts. If you have the law, get them on the law. If you don't have the luxary of either, defame them."

That sums up the case completely and the boy's parents are likely to win the appeal which I will be keeping close tabs on.

The so-called violent history that has been made a big deal of sounds like the life-stories of half of all Aspies. it's been taken out fo context by people that don't know or care about Autism.

I am convinced he's innocent; the main reason he was arrested was because the police thought he was odd and the unlikelyhood that Rosie-May was killed by freak accident alone in her room, so someone had to be to blame and Paul Smith was the perfect scapegoat.
