People with AS can feel emotions, sometimes very deeply--it's only their way of expressing it which is misunderstood by those diagnosing as a "lack of emotion". (I will say that some of the people on Wrong Planet have desribed having difficulty knowing what their feelings are or applying names to those feelings in the moment when they are happening, but may figure it out when processing the event later.)

From the self-reportage of Aspies on the internet (and the large number of them who seem to benefit from antidepressants) they do indeed experience depression. Sometimes that depression is situational, due to bullying or other unacceptable situations in their lives, or the depression can be due simply to the chemical state of their brain.

Bullsh**... Aspies can feel emotion, for some of us it is rather hard to express though. I have been mildly depressed before, and that was not fun. I don't know how to express all of my emotions simply because I cannot describe some of them.

Sometimes depression can manifest as a lack of emotion of any sort--a flat, dull, tired feeling that takes away your enjoyment of life. That's how it was for me, and how it is for many people who get clinical depression; there's just not enough energy left to feel really sad. It's more like you've started editing your perceptions of everything so that it seems dull, boring, hopeless, and ultimately not worth bothering with.

That said, I have very strong emotions normally, both positive and negative. Part of my particular sort of autism actually involves not being able to inhibit emotional expression very well, so that if I'm feeling anything but calm, whether that's interested, excited, sad, angry, or anything else, it's obvious to anyone around me because I don't know how to keep feelings secret.

Nobody but laypeople and wanna-be researchers consider those with ASD to be unable to feel emotions these days.

Even Double-Bullshit: Aspies even not only can feel emotions, they have normally even a less developed framework with dealing with negative emotions ("meltdown") and therefore clinical depressions are not that uncommon in one or the an phase of live; especially if typical Aspie-behaviour causes serious problems within the professional or private sphere.

from my own experience it seems that not being able to handle the world around you is a huge trigger for depression...

and from what ive read it seems i am not alone when it comes to that....

Sometimes people may even say that I can be over dramatic when it comes to certain things (in that they don't think it is a big deal). I have also been accused of being "overly sensitive". So what was said being not being very good with negative emotions is very true.

Depression can be far "worse" in case cases because of the inability do deal with such a strong emotion.

As I've posted here before, my BF and I are both AS with bipolar. So, we definitely have had our share of intense depressions.

What the hell do you expect people living with asperger's to feel? Endless delight?

That's a stereotype, through and through.
Infact, aspies are actually more prone to depression than those without AS or any other conditions. Perhaps I can't speak for all aspies here, but some really get overwhelmed by emotions.
