Ever found there are people on here you've just wanted to meet?

Odd, you were actually one of three people I was thinking of when I made the topic... Can't remember the other two right now... my memory is crap... I will know the next time I see one of there posts though.

It is so strange that you brought this up. I even made a post yesterday where I mentioned I would like to meet some of the people here. I have great respect for many in here. And I have come to feel like they are a special family. Maybe sometime, there could be WrongPlanet get together.

Yes, WP-Con, world's most awkward convention. Come see all the others who have an awkward time socially! You will enjoy being with several others who don't fit in, you will learn how to meet other people with the same interests, and not want to leave them because there is too much to talk about... I think a giant aspie convention would be a little odd, be very amusing, someone should start planning it. Just do it when I don't have classes, and do it somewhere I can easily travel to!

They would want to meet you---as much as you would want to meet them.

Let's think about this possiblity for a minute.

Suppose we did have this WrongPlanet get together. Think of all the people you enjoy posting with. Now imagine them in real life, and not just by an avatar and typed words. Would these people be who you expected? What would you say to them? Would you feel comfortable speaking face to face to them in real life?

I hope the answer is that we would want to share our thoughts with each other just as we have here in the WrongPlanet. I would hope we would feel comfortable with each other. But I admit, it would be strange in real life wouldn't it?

Would these people really act the way you think they would---or have we formed stereotypes of them based on our lack of social reading?

With all these questions, I would love to meet all of you that I have communicated with since I joined the WrongPlanet last November. I have learned more about my autism here than what any doctor could have told me.

Yes. There are some nice people on here that are friendly and supportive and I think would make a good friend or aquatenence. (It is always nice to have friendly people to chat with, when I am in the mood and that they also understand that I have moods that I dont' want to chat
I know of about a handful of people that I wouldn't mind meeting.

It would take alot of preparing myself(being nervous as heck) and alot of forcing myself to do things that I am not used to(meeting people, in general). I haven't made that much effort since I spotted my now husband, and then all of my focus has been on the kids.

I would think that the computer is the whole reason I am able to be as open as I am. I think it would be kinda awkward to actually meet someone I have only met online... actually I have done it before in groups, and the first little bit is very awkward, then it just feels different, like deja vu almost, but not quite.

Padium, you started this---and the desire has been lit in a lot of us. Think of the possibilities here. I used to hang around a bit with roller coaster enthusiasts. These people would get together in the summer at various amusement parks and enjoy riding the latest thrill rides with each other. Trust me---we Aspies couldn't be any stranger than the roller coaster enthusiasts. We may be the WrongPlanet, but they are the WrongUniverse. Even I was glad to get back to my hotel room and turn on the boring television.

Why couldn't we do the same thing? Why not plan on meeting somewhere? It would take a bit of planning and effort to do this, but what better group of people to do that than we Aspies. And it wouldn't be for just us, it would include everyone here on the spectrum. And, there are several NTs here too that relate to us---many of them are part of our WrongPlanet. They would come too. It would be beautiful (And I am not saying this to be funny---I am sincere). I would like for this to happen.
