Why people with AS go on and on and on and on and on and on and on about Intelligence Quotients is beyond me, it really is annoying. It is like they feel inadequate about not getting on in a neurotypical society that they must give themselves the delusion that they are Einstein, get a grip people.

I don't care if he is a ret*d or a genius the point is that this obsession with IQ is a smokescreen for something people do not wish to face, the "people treat me like a wierdo but that is just because I am smarter than them" mentality is pathetic, I wish people would grow up.

People treat me like a weirdo because I do not act normally or appropriately in a social context. I find my IQ to be of some interest only because of the strange distribution of subscores, which are more broadly spread for me than is typical. I don't really give a damn about the overall number.

Still doesn't explain why a large number of the members of WP diagnosed with AS are so preoccupied with IQ levels, the only conclusion I can come to is that they use it as a substitute for failing in relationships, not getting on in the real world etc etc, and of course, there is always going to be a percentage of people who think they are better than others just because they have a high IQ (regardless of whether they consider their AS status to be detrimental or beneficial to their everyday existence)

OK, so some people are immature. Don't always assume the worst of everyone and flame anyone who brings up IQ. That's not fair to the OP, and if you had bothered to read his post before flaming him you would know that he wasn't using IQ to brag.

i was going to bed and not going to post any more because i am tired but i can not let you think that.

there is no expectation of superior IQ in an asperger diagnosis. it is generally around average IQ that is expected.

your graphical representation is around an average mark.

f*ck i am grazing my ankles trying to back pedal here because i did not mean to make you feel low.

my girlfriend has an IQ of 69 and she is absolutely unique and no one in the world could copy her being accurately.

i am sorry i only was rebutting the other poster who suggested you were trying to use intellect as a stepping stone to aspergerian(?) acceptance.

i indicated to his short sighted mind that your results were certainly not of a boastful nature, and well i should not have commented. i can like you no matter how smart you are and so can anyone else.
intelligence without heart is not attractive and i know that because i am intelligent with no heart.
hearts are what is loved. not minds, and you have a heart.

i am sorry if i made you feel low.

I have a shortsighted mind? LOL

My posts are not directed towards the person who started this thread in particular, I was talking about the preoccupation with IQ in general on this board. LOL

It doesn't matter if he was bragging or not bragging, the fact that he felt compelled to post a thread about his IQ at all reflects the general obsession of this board with the subject.

@B9: Naww man that was too nice. Don't worry about it, i didn't think you really wanted to upset me at all, or maybe i didn't notice lol. I really like your mindset and i'm glad you and your gf sound to be going good. People with a low IQ can often appear very smart on other aspects and seem smart in general. I was often percieved to be a geek based on my interests and huge knowledge on them.

I was wondering if anyone could notice a particular trend? Or any characteristics in the results which could specifically place me within an Autism spectrum disorder. I think from what i've read, some HFA's HAVE shown to have similiar results to me. IQ tests really interest me nonetheless, despite the factors which may have affected mine, due to for example my diagnosed 'ADD.'

Edit: Boots please refrain from being soo defensive. We understand you. I would hate to see this opinion further expressed in many more posts and hi-jacking what could be a worthwhile thread.

I've taken enough IQ tests in my life, and the most recent one, which my psych had me do, ranked me in the 96th percentile. I don't care though, I feel stupid most days anyways... Why should someone care what another's IQ is. If she were a person that made me happy, and we both loved each other, I would be perfectly happy marrying someone with an IQ of 50. In the end IQ means nothing. Although I wish I would have been 2 perecentiles higher, as I could have had mensa on my university application. But as stated earlier, IQ means nothing. Even with my high IQ I have still had to repeat courses, so its not like having a high IQ means much anyways. I also passed one course by divine intervention.

I wasn't being defensive, I was merely pointing out a simple fact.

if your post are not directed toward the person who started this thread, then why did you post them in his thread?

why "lol" so much. yes there is much preoccupation with IQ from AS pretenders, but to disallow any reference to it because of that reason is to discount with prejudice any new and innocent person who has an inquiry. ironically they are precluded on a negative premise that was initiated by NT pretenders.
