For the longest time, I tried to figure out why some people's eye pupils "never" dilate even when they're happy or "appear to be". I thought it was some sort of physiological condition.
Also, these same people tended to be rather stubborn and when they fixed upon an idea, there was no way of stopping them or changing their minds. At times, I felt that I could get to the point of grapping them by the shoulders and screaming "Why won't your pupils dilate?! Show some emotion other than just for yourself. Cry at a sad movie. Be alive. Be friendly! Show some concern and love!" As I later learned that their pupils did not dilate due to "light sensitivity" - the pupils were always like little pin-points. These individuals had Asperger's Syndrome. That's why they were the way they were. These people were relatives on my father's side of the family. They were aspies with a very, poor upbringing - no liveliness, love or affection - thus they were like "stone people". In was in them to be better people but they just wouldn't do it! It was as though they were waiting for instructions. This made me think that children with AS should be treated VERY carefully, VERY tenderly because If an Aspie gets abused...the Aspie becomes criminal even moreso than a NT. I believe it's that "rote memory" aspect of the syndrome. Ideas, suggestions, and modeling become "commandments" that never get broken. When an aspie is taught abuse, they learn it VERY well. When an aspie is taught love, they learn it VERY well. Total letch vs. doormat syndrome. If you give a very young aspie child unpredictable abuse coupled with love, you cultivate a bi-polar personality. This is just a theory, so feel free to rip it apart. I'm saying these things in a general sense. I've learned to expect criticism in a forum without wanting to exact vengeance through verbal abuse. So, go ahead and attack. You'll be safe. One must be very careful with their children's upbringing because it matters more than anyone can imagine. Another interesting tidbit: This man was going around committing arson. He was caught and given a psyc evaluation. The doctors learned that he was sexually abused at a young age by a "fire chief". HOLY SMOKES!! ! The article stopped right there!! I was livid...where's the rest? Didn't they ask him any more questions?! It left me to speculate and now I'm half nuts because of it. Only the arsonist knows for sure why he did it. What do you think?
