Got my assessment results back
I got my results back yesterday and was diagnosed with ASD. The doctor that did the assessment says I show classic results of what was called Aspergers. I am not sure what to think now. I mean this is what I thought I had but now that I know for sure. I am not sure how to feel right now.
The doctor invited me to an adult autism support group. I think I will go check it out. I am hoping this diagnosis will help me to understand myself better. So that perhaps get a handle on my anxiety and depression.
Congratulations on getting your DX. Remember that you are still you. You have not changed. You are the exact same person you were before you got the DX. The only difference is that now you have an opportunity to have a deeper and greater understanding of why you are the way you are. I found that that understanding gave me validation and really helped me know that I was not a freak like I thought I was before but rather a person, just like everyone else who happens to have a different neurology which affects every part of my life. It was a big relief to me and it helped me because when people comment on my behavior I can explain to them that I am Autistic and then it all makes sense to them and they can treat me fairly.
Give it time to soak in. I think checking out the support group is a very good idea. You might make friends there or at least be around people who can relate to you. Don't worry about what you should feel. There are no right or wrong feelings with this. You just feel what you feel and stay honest about it whatever it is. The feelings may change and you may go through quite a few of them. Whatever they are, they are all fine to feel. It will take some time but it will all settle in.

Congrats I have my assessment on June 15th. I received a letter from them and they mention Aspergers so looks like they are still diagnosing this, in the UK.
Take things easy as much as you can over the next weeks/months and let it sink in. I mean be easy on yourself.

The aliens usually contact you within 72 hours of getting your results. I did hear that they were running behind this week. Something about traffic delays around Venus...
Just kidding.
Anxiety and depression are very common co-morbids unfortunately, with ASD. Unlike ASD however there are treatments for those. I had good results getting treated for anxiety.
The new knowledge should help you get to the bottom of things and yield positive results.
