The question of 'do you prefer do things on your own or in a group?' is often asked when trying to establish aspieness. I know from my point of you I prefer doing things on my own, even watching TV. For me, isolation breeds creativity, by which I can not only complete a task well, but also in time (due to less distractions). I just have a question.

Are there any activities which seem to be more fulfilling to you when done by yourself, as opposed to being done with others? I know for me, driving is sometimes intolerable when with someone, especially if that person is trying to be your driving instructor and navigator. :lol:

Most things are more fulfilling to me when done by myself.
It's much easier for me to talk about the activities which I actually DO enjoy doing with others...
* Board games (Monopoly, Risk, Chess, Checkers, etc.)
* Creative play with my son
* Certain outdoor sports (Soccer, Tennis)
* Sex with my girlfriend
* Playing music (this is also quite fulfilling when done alone)
* Interesting coversation (I have conversations with myself too, but that's another story entirely) :wink:

Other than the sex, I would rather participate in an event alone (or with somebody quiet).

I feel at war with myself when it comes to these issues. I feel very motivated to do things or projects when I'm around people yet I don't seem to get along very well in a group.

I guess I'd prefer doing it on my own I guess....

I also like board games, sports, and occasionally interesting conversations. I usually play my drums alone (or with my teacher during lessons), but it would be interesting to try with a band. I'm too young for sex though. :lol:

I like doing just about everything on my own as well. It's really the only guarantee I have that I'll be able to keep my mind on doing what I'm doing without getting sidetracked.

I'm a solitary soul, not at all fazed by pottering around by myself.

I've lived by myself for 8 years now, and when someone upthread mentioned TV, I smiled. If I go to stay at my mum's and my sister is also staying I find it really, really frustrating trying to listen to the telly whilst they are having a full on conversation. Loudly. I really have to bite my tongue to not go, "Shhhh!". Can't be doing with people talking when I'm trying to watch and listen!

I clearly remember my careers teacher at school looking over the sheet I had filled in. Expected exam results, hobbies and interest and the like. She commented on how all of my hobbies were rather solitary. I had never even given it a seconds thought. But they are, they don't need other people. I don't need other people. Not in that way, not at all.
