If you have or have had a depression diagnosis has it been ongoing and was it severe for you?
I have dealt with depression for so many years I can't remember not feeling down. The only diagnosis I have received for it is dysthmia and I think it pretty much sums it up for me. Low to mid depression grade and feeling of almost constant flatline.

I was severely depressed several years ago.. I've gone up and down since then but the past month or so I've been going way down again. I'm considering looking into getting meds.

Diagnosed around age 14. Sometimes I feel OK and somewhat functional, but it's frequently a hindrance to day-to-day living and I've considered hospitalization.

I do remember being very depressed about 10 years ago when I started to realize these symptoms would not change nor would I grow out of some of my most troublesome Aspieness.
I have had depression for many years, and yes, it was pretty severe. It affected every aspect of my life. I did not want to admit to a mental illness, nor admit that it might be a forever thing with me. I was recently diagnosed with Asperger's and it does help to know that there is a root cause there. It has helped me to accept that depression will always be lurking in the background and that I have to be more aware of the symptoms before they overtake my life.

I almost always feel like s**t, and I'm diagnosed with depression with psychotic features and Bipolar I Disorder.
I'm depressed about the stuff I'm anxious about. I get anxious about something, then I get depressed about it. Right now I'm anxious and depressed about possibly living with certain people, even about having them visit often.
I've been on Celexa and Prozac for depression and Abilify for my lack of motivation that might be caused by depression... Abilify is approved to be added to antidepressants for depression.

I got prescribed a SSRI with the side-effect of enhanced sweating, in the middle of a hot summer, so I took it for about a month before quitting unannounced. Ah, priorities. In my defence it was really unpleasant, and the pharmacy was a mile's walk away.
