What is your orientation?

EDIT: I am just curious to compare the statistics versus the general population.

I'm curious why gay and lesbian are listed separately, yet straight is not gender-divided.

I'm lesbian :D
Seriously, I'm straight.
In Europe, we just say Homosexual for Gay and Lesbians (so we put them in the same category) and heterosexual instead of Straight (which, I think, is more politically correct, why a girl and a boy together must be the straight way, the right way ?)

Because GLBT advocacy orgs make the same distinction? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT

Your point would be more valid had Padium said "homosexual" & "Lesbian", but, in the US anyway, the cultural norm, even within the GLBT community is to differentiate Male Homosexuals from Female Homosexuals via the terms "Gay" and "Lesbian"

It is a term referring to being attracted to all genders, even those outside the definitions of male and female.

Have identified variously as straight, lesbian, bi-sexual, and more recently a-sexual.

My sexuality is probably not classifiable by "object", ( "which" sex, male or female, I am into ), nor whether I am into sex at any given time, but more usefully by what sexual dynamics and situations turn me on.

There is no reason why AS sexuality should parallel the "normal"/NT classification system, seeing how differently we interact with the world in general.

"Queer" might just about cover it!

I am only interested in a relationship with a female, don't know why, I am just not attacted males for a relationship. I am,m for what I am interested in sexually, floating between bi and asexual. Thus I am definitly "Other"...

I voted Other, but it's not very valorising though is it?

It's not very affirming to be consigned to the grab bag of odds and ends that don't fit into the accepted schema. Like a non-existence, whereas "queer" is conscious, deliberate, and interrogative/challenging.

"Other" in a poll does not encourage a vote, because it is a "negative" in a sense. The poll is loaded in favour of the normal categories, simply because they are named/concrete.
