I'm doing a report on voting and propoganda and the media and I'm writing about when they changed the law in 1972 in the united states to allow people 18 and older to vote and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find statistics showing how many people there are 18 thru 20 in the united states during 2008 (presidential election) ?? Thanks!

I'm not sure exactly how many, but probably quite a few since it's a big age range here. We were always the biggest class in high school. As for the voting, I was nineteen (nearly twenty) when I voted.

I missed the 72 election, but got to vote for my first loser in '76...;)

The Party headquarters (National Democratic or Republican) would probably have some good stats on that.

Oh, btw...try the US Census department. That would give you a raw figure for that set of years. The Board of Elections would give you raw data, but probably don't break it down by age group. However, they'd be a good place to start.

I certainly don't know how many, but I did know about which states taking Barack Obama or John McCain. I am glad that obama won the election adn now he is the president working on fixing the economy.

That's for 2000. Count forward by the required number of years, and you should have a good guess. If you want a really good estimate you may have to add immigration and death rates; but realistically the difference between these will be smaller than the uncertainty on the census.
