I've just found out some things about aspies. Here they are.

Aspies are all brilliant at math.

Aspies can't play sports.

Aspies can't drive.

Only children and teens have Asperger's.

Only males have Asperger's.

Aspies are people haters.

Aspies are incapable of sarcasm.

Aspies are sexually deviant.

Aspies are in constant fear.

Anyone who acts differently from other people is mentally ret*d.

Aspies don't get married.

Aspies are static. They don't change.

Aspies don't feel emotions.

Aspies have no sense of humor.

Aspies have no imagination.

Aspies can't understand idioms.

Aspies are all atheists.

Aspies all can't stand rock concerts.

Aspies are not into fashion.

Aspies are all the same.

These are not facts. These are assumptions. And I assume that since you typed lol at the end it is intended as a joke/sarcasm.

So I will disagree only with the thread title.

I disagree as I'm a female aspie

Aspies are all brilliant at math.

Above average, maybe not brilliant.

Aspies can't play sports.

I have always been fairly talented at racket sports, team sports is what I am bad at.

Aspies can't drive.

I'm sure a lot of us do.

Only children and teens have Asperger's.

Might not effect adults as much as children, and teenage years are just hard anyway.

Only males have Asperger's.

Just less likely in females

Aspies are people haters.

People are awesome, I just hate small talk

Wrong, I just have a little trouble sometimes making something obviously sarcastic

If that means my sexual desire is above the norm, thats right

Where did you get these "facts?" Most of them are myths. If you've come to this website and read often enough, you've seen the wide variety of diversity we with AS have.

Guys, I think this was just a joke. Did you see "lol" at the bottom?

I think Night_Owl_Amber also knew this was a joke because she had that wink face in her post.

Here is my revision of your list:

Aspies are all brilliant at math.

Some are. Some are brilliant in other areas. My area is writing. I'm not so good with math. Some have no areas of brilliance at all, but most of us do.

Aspies can't play sports.

We have difficulties due to coordination problems. I can't play sports. However, two good aspie friends of mine do.

Aspies can't drive.

I can't drive but I have aspie friends who do drive.

Only children and teens have Asperger's.

I'm 40 with Asperger's. I know plenty of us in our 30's and up!

Only males have Asperger's.

It's a 3:1 ratio and it's wrong in my opinion because it should be 1:1 if professionals could understand how AS presents itself in women so they could identify it!

We don't understand people. We don't hate them. We would like to be included, but we don't know how.

Some of us are very sarcastic. We just don't always understand when other people are being sarcastic.

This is interesting. I've noticed this trend a lot but professionals don't point it out, that I've seen. We're more experimental, I think, because our nervous systems are different and we have to find our own ways to solve our needs for stimulation.

I have a severe anxiety disorder. It's scary to live in an over-stimulating world. However, even I am not in constant fear. I'm happy and relaxed while on meds, most of the time.

This is just patently ridiculous. It doesn't even make logical sense. Most aspies are not mentally ret*d. In fact, it goes against the definition of AS. We should all have average to above average IQ.

My aspie BF is very unpredictable and changes a lot. I change less, because I am stuck in my routines. However, we are all individuals who often change.

Oh yes I do! Intense ones. Have you heard of "meltdowns?" I also feel all the feelings others do, but I get mixed up in my head about what is what.

My AS BF is like a comedian. We laugh together all the time. Dan Akroyd has AS even.

Then why can we paint, draw, compose music and write imaginative literature?

Read some posts. There are plenty of spiritual aspies and some who are very Christian.

I've been to 6. I prefer not to go, but I will go to see Tori Amos. I've seen her 4x and her music does not deafen my ears.

I love fashion, but it's my own fashion. It's my own creative, artistic expression. I don't follow trends. I could give a damn what's popular or trendy.

I was also offended as I was reading the OP and then when I saw "lol" at the bottom, I knew it was a joke. I guess you didn't read the whole post or you didn't understand "lol?"

No, I cannot imagine that, I have Aspergers Syndrome.

Instead, I am forced to calculate it (using my trusty Aspie math skills).
