Exactly what would it do?

Would it remove the disabilities and leave the rest?
I find the idea of "curing" disability very silly, especially with these kind of things: boost people's attention-span/communication skill/social skill/academic intelligence, and you won't have less disability in the world, but society will change it's expectations and whoever is now on the bottom of the new scale will now be the disabled one. Solving disability is something you can only do by changing society.

Would it remove everything about autism in me?
Then I would like to know who and what kind of person I would become. If that person would be something closer to averege than I am, I would probably say no, ironically.

I sure as hell wouldn't, I love being aspie! Asperger's is why I can remember my PIN number so easily, along with all the words to 'We Didn't Start The Fire' by Billy Joel. If I took a cure, I might have to write my PIN number on the ATM machine (LOL).

Probably not. I like being different. I really dont think of it as a disability more as a challenge.

if it got rid of the social anxiety it would be nice not to worry about interacting with people

but it dosnt really matter becus a cure will never exist

No. I would never want to get rid of my Asperger's Syndrome. I love Asperger's Syndrome. It is me. I love my obsessive interests. I don't mind that I had few friends growing up---and virtually none now---that does not bother me. I enjoy watching old home movies of myself as a child seeing all the quirky things I did. I find Asperger's Syndrome as fun and fascinating---and it was/is my best friend---family aside. So again, no, I would not want a cure for it.

What things would be easier for you? Do you seriously think that being a regular NT type person is an 'easy' thing to be anymore than being an AS type person? Everybody has good things and poor things no matter what they are and the secret to life is maximizing your strengths and downplaying your weaknessess. Read about the guy who had to practice speaking with rocks in his mouth.

I consider AS a gift, rather than a problem.

certainly I would say no thanks to a cure.

I wouldnt either want to be without my AS diagnosis, its a part of me and my personality. I had a very rough lifeexperience but that also made me me and made me to not take life so easy and made me appreciate small and visually unimportant things like the feeling of beeing happy on a sunny day.
But after all, Im mostly with logical thinking. I know there is no cure so why reflect on something that would never come. I try to put forward the things Im good at and to deal with the more problematic sides the best I can. I have learned to speak for myself and express my feelings, this had brought me far and I dont want it undone or erased

No, I would not take the "cure." I get mental indigestion just thinking about it.

Why is it wrong to be disabled? Why is that such a horrible thing?

And why do people think it's harder than a "normal" life?

No, I'll keep my mind, flaws and all. It's MY mind.

I think maybe if NT's were cured of their non-accepting ways, and as a result were more understanding, open-minded and respectful then the difficulties Aspies/Auties experienced would be eased. As for curing a different type of personality/mind/heart/spirit? No.

People need to be rid of the idea that there is only one way to view/live/experience life.

Next time someone says you should be cured of Autism, just reply with - "how would you feel if I said I am going to cure you of the person you are just because I don't understand you?"

No thank you. I'm not broken and I don't need to be fixed. I see my AS as a gift, and I do not suffer from anything.
