*What Colour Clothing do You Wear?*
Something odd happened to me today; I bought five gloriously big floaty T-shirts, ... and they weren't black, or grey, or even the purple/lilac that I got into last summer, ( and still love ), but sunflower yellow, ( two of them !) aegean sea blue, candy pink, and lime green.
In my teens and twenties I loved bright colours, wore them all the time. Then I went through a phase of black, with some lilac and green, before going blue and white and pink, with black for a while, and then I retreated into black. I didn't want to wear colours anymore, at all.
For five years until last summer I lived in black, with some grey and white.
18 months ago I went completely gluten-free. Last summer I bought three different purple/lilac trousers, and five purple shirts, ( the same one x 5, like Seth Brundle in "The Fly" ), and thought that would be the end of it.
4 weeks ago I went starch-free, ( and I noticed the last week or two that I was wanting to wear yellow ), and today ... explosion of colour. Not that I am wearing them yet, it's too cold!
PS. I am also growing my hair, for the first time in years; suddenly it is no longer a problem having hair around my neck and ears.
So, what colours do you wear mostly? Have you gone through phases of different ones? Do you restrict certain colours to your surroundings/decor only? What do you feel about colour?
.
Mostly black and white in winter, beige/black and white in summer
But I choose bright colors for accessories and jewelry. My favorites stones are the deep yellow-orange citrines.
Mu house is also quite colorful.
I hate pink and I love emerald green.

First of all, are you a guy? Seth Brundle? THAT's a very clear picture. I assume the Jeff Goldblum version? I love him! Well - not when he's a total Brundle-fly - but before that. They always dress Jeff Goldblum well. He has a good frame for clothes.
Anyway, the reason I ask about your gender, is I just got a new Macy's men's catalog thinigie - and its all about color. Some really pretty ties and polos. I'm wondering if merchandisers are looking to brighter, happier colors in an attempt to lift our moods. I don't mean to make it sound sinister. The fashion industry and finance have always shared a very close relationship and maybe if everyone wore "happy colors" the stock market would go up.
To answer your question, I usually wear all black or brown (the new black) or gray (the new brown) - summer - I add white to the palette. I always wear a peppy bright hat or scarf for color. Usually solid but sometimes striped or plaid. I am a big fan of tone on tone. They say it makes you look taller.
This winter I was really into lavender and plum. Soothing happy colors.
On the other hand, for a special occasion or if I just feel like it - I am not adverse to bright colors. Like, I bought a bright olive green dress that was so gorgeous - kind of a greek goddess a la Heidi Klum look. I felt so pretty in it - even though it was kind of the color of Vietnam war era army uniforms. But the green made me feel wild and free and kind of "color of money"-ish.
I am very much into color - and feng shui. I have this really awesome book that kind of goes into feng shui for your life - including clothes.
I dress my husband (well buy and pick out his clothes - he puts them on) and depending on what he's doing, I pick the colors accordingly. If he needs to be calming and soothing like talking to his psycho mom, I'll put him in blue. If he's doing a high pressure sales call - I'll put him in a yellow shirt (sunflower!). If he needs to be credible, he'll be wearing a red tie with blue accents.
As far as decor, I am obsessive there. Using classic feng shui rules - depending on where I (and my family) are in our lives and the purpose of a room. I can't stand white walls - at least like, Navajo white. It's ok if you're going for a very specific look - but I much prefer colors and dark neutrals. No red walls right now...but if the economy doesn't turn around soon, I may paint my office red or at least an accent wall.
Maybe the aspie angle here is: we don't necessarily get "stuck" on A color. But we can get completely obsessed with colors.
Hope I answered your question.

I've been told I look like Sigourney Weaver, similar "frame" too. Not a guy, but often feel like a gay one in a woman's body. Love loose floaty clothing, so do appreciate a lot of men's clothes; big shirts etc.
I love colour too, am very sensitive to it, which is why only wanting to wear black, or grey, was so weird and why the recent changes are so noticeable too.
For the last two years our main room was "Xmas", almost as if I compensated for my black clothes!
I fell in love with silver, so there it stayed, with little berries/beads/drops/balls of red and icy blue and pink dotted all over, and tiny wooden figures which I got very fond of. And then this January I put it all away, ( big job, and only after taking photos ), and now it is "summer". Pictures collaged on sections of wall, ( of the sea, and heat, and abstracts in colours of summer, etc ), and fake but surprisingly beautiful flowers here and there. The walls are the way we found them moving in, mainly a washy clear/aqua blue, and some terracotta pink-apricot colour.
Me too. I look at the room as if it were a painting. I need things to balance/flow/connect, and I love having complex visual surroundings, eye-food. I have put whitened beef bones, those beautiful short angular cylinder ones, on top of the TV, and I can sit and look at their shapes for ages.

Yeah - the only big flowy shirts and then the Jeff Goldblum reference made me think - hmmmm - gay male academic type? Ha ha!
I LOVE Sigourney Weaver. Thanks for the visual. Whew! Can you believe how beautiful she was in Baby Mama? (If you saw it.)
Your decorating style sounds very much like mine. I love silver accents - but I've always loved metallics. I also love gold leaf - but brass stresses me out unless its on a bell - like a ship's bell. (But I did love brass back in the 80's!) Got a thing for the christmas lights but my husband thinks they're tacky. Technically, they are but I like the soft light they give off.
I also love things like shells and other salvaged things. (Like brass ship bells.) My mom is obsessed with bones and dead insects. I mean, she can't leave a dead thing or a bone - she has to take it home and display them. My dog found a jaw bone that looked as if it came from a deer or maybe a dog. It was gross - not bleached out. Still kind of brown like something out of CSI (pet unit ) but my mom insisted on bringing it back to her house.

I mainly wear black trousers/jeans, a black hoodie and a coloured top. The colour is normally purple for every day, cos it's my favourite colour, but for parties or whatever it's often red.

I LOVE Sigourney Weaver.
Then you've got to see "Snow Cake" if you haven't yet. SW plays an autistic woman in it, and does a fantastic job, and has some wonderful scenes. I mention "Snow Cake" whenever I can, because it's one of my favorite Alan Rickman movies, and I adore him. It's a beautiful movie! (not in a gag-me-with-a-spoon kind of way)

Excellent! Thanks! I love Alan Rickman too! LOVED him in Dogma. He could totally be a biblical figure.
I'll check it out. She also did Copycat where she was housebound. That role freaked me out so much I vowed never to get housebound. (The serial murder stuff wasn't nearly scary as the agoraphobia!! !)

I have horrible taste in clothes. I work in an office, so I have to dress fairly nicely. I used to keep to the same colors, but I'm trying to branch out. I've even worn colors that I don't think go together, but I don't get any responses from the NT's at work or from my NT hubby. Lately, I've been making him go clothes shopping for me, he has much better taste and will be honest with me about what colors look good and what ones don't. If there's a shirt I really like in a bad color for me (i.e. green), I'll still get it, but will only wear it on the weekends.
Several years ago, I wanted to change jobs and become a C.O. (correctional officer) just because they wore uniforms everyday.
I voted for for greens, yellow, browns........autumn colors.
Lab Pet has green eyes, dark blonde, fair w/ yellow-ish cast, & dark thick brows. Gold & autmn colors just 'match.' A bit of Victorian flair - *slightly* goth but fairly conservative.
I do like skirts/dresses ~ < 50% & feminine clothes - but I appreciates what another wears.
Lab Pet's lab coat is white.
Black is a basic, white too. I do like prints - but quite simple/feminine & I'm petite.

That's another case for going monochrome or tone on tone. As much as I love clothes and color - I don't like to have to think too much.
As long as the clothes fit well and are comfortable - pants are pants and sweaters are sweaters. I have a billion black sweaters in every weight and style. Just different necklines and sleeves and stuff. Then you can just add accessories for color - which is way more fun, too. Like all black with red ballet flats and a red bag.
