oh...maybe so. But to be honest, who do we know as well as ourselves? We don't know other people as well as NTs do, so it would probably follow.

The general self-centeredness and lack of TOM would have you assume so. There are alot of egocentric AS people about to say the least. I'm probably guilty of being one of them at times.

When I'm with an individual I'm comfortable with, they can't get a word in edge-wise sometimes to voice their opinions, feelings or just tell me about something that went on during their day. I genuinely forget that other people are more than flesh and bone.

I would have to say yes.

Yes! And don't even risk asking us about our special interest.

Sometimes the lack of giving a damn is a problem too.

I wish it wasn't so, but I have a hard time listening to people if they aren't talking about something that interests me, amuses me or relevant to my existence in some shape or form.

I need a sign on my head that reads- I really do wish I could at least pretend to be interested in your day, but it just bores the hell out of me.

I'm very self-centered. Whenever I talk about something, it's always me, me, me. That's why I'm planning on making a personal website (AKA vanity site) so I can have someplace to channel my massive ego.

I find I talk to myself quite a bit but most of the time, I am trying to practice how a meet up with someone will go so that I am not as surprised in the middle of a conversation.

It's not that they talk about themselves too much, just that they don't talk about other people enough.

yes because we are not around people all the time and we spend time with our own company so we have nothing to
talk about but ourselves.

Aspies also tend not to ask in conversations how other people feel or ask about what is happening in their lives which causes us to be viewed as selfish.

Add another one to that list. It is a problem that I now recognize, after noticing/participating in it being discussed here at WP on different occasions. I still catch myself doing it alot, but I am getting better at asking the other person about theirself, and trying to make conversations more two-sided. Like everything aspie, it is a learning process.

I do tend to talk about myself a lot, but I've learned to shut myself up and listen to what other people say, even if I couldn't give a damn. Also I've learned that if someone is talking about a subject that you know something about, just talk about it in a shortened version of what you know, if you know what I mean. Like, don't go all scientific on them. I learned the hard way that kind of puts people off. But then some of my friends are astounded at some of the things I know, and they won't stop asking me about it. lol I guess it just depends on who you are and who you're talking to.
