Do you find that certain members who think they are better then everyone else tend to have an elitist attitude towards new members and NTs alike? What kind of message does that send? Many of us have suffered a lot of grief at the hands of other people, so why be a hypocrite and turn around and do the same thing other people, especially people just like yourself? Seems to be a poisonous attitude coming from certain members on this board trying to invalidate and ridicule members on this board based on diagnosis statuses. This sounds like Nazism and blood status bull crap. Why post threads that ostracize new members and people just receiving help/and diagnosis? That is utter crap and those certain people should be ashamed of themselves for their harassment and ridicule.

It definitely isn't any worse here than it is IRL in fact, it's not as bad. Elitism is the natural instinct in the human species.

Yeah I guess so, but I would have thought that people who understand what I am going through would be a little more compassionate. I do not appreciate telling a very personal story and then having used by a certain person to ridicule me. That is terribly wrong and it shows the kind of morally bankrupt character some of the members display.

Well, I don't really know what happened there. I just know people are generally elitist no matter what and there isn't much anyone can do about it.
I am not aquainted with your story or what happened. Sorry.

I've seen that attitude here. It's often mixed with apathy.

People are posting on an AS site, so they probably shouldn't expect a lot of empathy.. BUT they deserve to get it and we should all make a full out effort to provide that for them. I don't always respond to new posters, but I try to. I needed that when I started.

Righto...

Yes, blame it on human nature, but if someone gets looked down on, they need a little support or it gets into another repeat of what every other web sight had before. New posts and threads of "Oh I don't feel welcome here. GOOD BYE!" "WP is mean" ect. It will happen again anyway, I'm sure.

This is the lack of empathy site, the empathy site is at the other end of the internet.

The self centered detachment of autism is in regard to all things.

You are complaining about our lack of social skills?

I am an elitest nazi because I do not show compassion for your problems?

I see you running the harassment and ridiclule, no one else.

Frankly my dear, I do not give a damn.

No I don't think that is what he is saying.

I think what he is trying to say is that some people on the site seem to be a bit prejudice toward NT's . some members seem to think they are better then NT"S because they have a form of autism.

If this is what he is saying then I agree there is a little bit of going on. But so far I have not see it hurt anyone so I haven't spoken up.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone but it is my personal view on the matter.

Whitetiger, WTF is with that comment on empathy!? Maybe we're not naturals at nonverbal communication, but of course they should expect empathy and we should give it.

Sorry folks, but if some emo loser (or the OP) wants sympathy, empathy, or a warm, fuzzy hug, then he or she would be better off posting in The Haven or the Kid's Crater.

Whimsi-Cal

I tried to look up your previous posts to find out what happened to bother you so much, and your account says you have 57 posts and that that is 0.00 of your posts. When I click on the "see all posts" link it says you have no posts.

I sometimes notice an aspier-than-thou attitude from some of the diagnosed towards the undiagnosed.

A lot of us try to be supportive of other aspies/auties. A few don't. I try to ignore the unsupportive ones and appreciate the many kind words I receive when I post about a problem. Don't let the unsupportive ones get you down - maybe they just can't do any better. I just assume it's nothing personal and don't let it bother me.

Some of us focus on real problems, like getting fired, grief over a dead friend or relative, addicted boyfriends, or being stalked by a stranger.

Being unhappy over being unpopular, getting miffed over an imaginary insult, or posting seemingly endless "Do You Like Me?" polls just aren't as important.

Life is harsh. The sooner a person learns to accept that fact and deal with it, the better off they'll be in the long run.

^ ditto.

i have real problems to deal with - like sensory integration dysfunction, the fact it is hell for me to kiss my kid, my home life has been in tatters for a few years because of my meltdowns and impulsiveness and the reality that I am recently back on a pension because my life is crumbling AGAIN and i don't f*****g understand how to live like others.

talk to the hand.

Yes, from what I've seen elitism is definitely a problem with Wrong Planet.

Haven't been here long, but since you asked, yes.
