The last week or two we have had the first really sunny and warm/hot days since late last October/early Nov, ( I live in southern France ).

So I have been sitting outdoors on a couple of occasions, for an hour or two or more, ( café terraces and porch steps ), and I find it makes me feel "different". I am having trouble describing the effect; it's like a different eye-view or something. As if I bring the feeling of being outdoors inside with me afterwards, like staring at a lamp/light leaves an after-image on the eye. Well, the sunshine seems to leave an after-image, or sensation, ( of being outdoors ), on my body/brain.

It's partly a nice feeling, as if it sets up, or renews, a greater connection with the rest of the world, and half a slightly uneasy feeling, as if I am not so "safe", not as "enclosed"/protected when indoors, ( as if the walls are less solid suddenly ).

Does anyone else know what I mean? Or experience anything similar around sunshine/sunlight after months of winter-cocooning, or just generally?
.

Yes, I always feel much better when it's sunny. But the sun rarely seems to reach the UK for more than a month or so. *adds to list of reasons why I'm moving ASAP*

Sunlight tends to give me headache and in general it makes me tired, it drains the energy out of me.

Sitting in the sun for an hour or 90 minutes does me a lot of good, even though I pretty well always have used sunscreen. Vitamin D helps vascular health and inflammation issues, also, I read.

It depends. It can do anything from making me feel a little better, to having no effect at all, to making me have a meltdown and/or heatstroke/heatdaze + a nasty sunburn.

I know that feeling exactly, though the unprotected part doesn't stay with me once I come back inside, but sometimes being outdoors especially in an open area feels like being surrounded by 'an ocean of air' (if that descriptive makes sense). Almost as if I were walking along the sea bottom and can see forever in any direction. It can make me feel slightly giddy.

But the sunlight itself is a pleasant sensation as long as the temp isn't too high. Not a fan of summer heat. The humidity can be stifling here.

I HAVE to have a daily dose of sunlight or I get SAD (seasonal affective disorder). But, I am also allergic to the sun, so I have to be careful.

I get bad SAD as well, and really really need my sunshine to be functional (and I live here, go figure).

Unfortunately, if I spend too much time directly exposed to bright sunlight, I can get migraines, or just sensory overload and meltdown.

I hate the sun. I'm fine with it in the other seasons but in the summer, my eyes squint in it. I also can't stand the heat. I can actually feel the sweat before it comes out.

I go swimming in the summer and this is what I do.

First - I bring five towels with me and one has to be a beach towel. I only need three towels if two are beach towels.

Second - I bring a small pillow.

Third - I find an empty lounge chair.

Fourth - I put two towels on the lounge chair.

Fifth - I put the pillow on top of one of the towels.

Six - After reclining on the lounge chair, I put the remaining towels on me, like blankets, so I am mostly covered.

Seven - I put my head on the pillow then put some of one of the towels over my face.

Eight - Then, I take a nap.

This is very comfortable too. The towels keep the sun off my skin yet I can still feel the warmth of the sun while trying to get to sleep. I don't like the sensation of direct sunlight on my face and the towel helps shield it, too. It's a great way to nap in the sun without it's rays being directly on your skin.

Same with me. Plus any stress and sunshine = sun stroke, I had a mild one in my early teens.
