I had my functional assessment yesterday for DD services. The psychologist said he hasn't scored my test yet, but he thinks I might score at around 80. I need a 70 to pass the test and get DD services.

This is a functional IQ equivalent score. He said my verbal skills are so high (99th%) that it may bring my score up considerably. But, I need help. And, if my functional IQ is 80, I think I should still get help and I don't know what I'll do without it.

I need help with budgeting, med mgmt, social stuff and plus if I qualify I won't have to pay anything for health expenses.. not even co-pays.

Please keep your fingers crossed, pray if you believe in that, etc. I worry I won't get the help I need.

whitetiger,
even if don't qualify,is there no local organisations that offer services/support with things, such as a local asd organisation? there's got to be something out there,is there a direct payments scheme where are.

if there is nothing at all available, what about looking for a volunteer to help out a little, maybe pay them back with letting them stay in a spare room or something else.

Considering what you've had to go thru perhaps maybe you can see a way to make becoming an advocate for others a new special interest. We need as many representatives as we can get to force the dead-ass buearucrats into action or to throw them out of a job.

Thanks everybody!

I talked to the DD counselor today and he said there were services available to those who don't qualify for DD. He listed some. Plus, I have my counselor, who is really good. She's been working with me on some of this stuff.

This will sound WEIRD and maybe I'm CRAZY but there was a picture of a white tiger on the bulletin board in the room and I kept thinking that was a sign of good luck for me.

Probably not though!
