I think upbeat would be the ones that are possitive and get things done basicly where-as the downbeat would see the negative in everything and just sit there in self pity.

I have to admit I'm a bit too downbeat myself

The upbeat ones see the world through rose-colored glasses and probably are a bit delusional - but in a good way. We visualize our goals and they become real - kind of like Don Quixote and his windmills.

In my case - I had to learn to be upbeat. I was a nasty, surly, angry youth.

Being an aspie - its easy to train your brain.

Maybe some people are down on being AS. Some people are upbeat about it.

Or maybe they are just referring to mood in general, some AS are upbeat people in general, some are not.

I actually meant by personality type, but moods are OK, too.

I'm downbeat a lot but I don't know how much of it is self pity. It's not like there's even a clear goal or problem for me to solve. I'm just not easily entertained anymore and I seem to be unhappy by default whenever there isn't anything else to feel.

Maybe this sounds prejudiced but happy people always seem simple to me. I think if I could somehow shut my brain off and go through the motions of life like a robot I would be happier.
