How old was everyone here when they were diagnosed? I was 17 before receiving a formal diagnosis.

I am undiagnosed Aspie, my son was officially diagnosed autistic at 5. He was evaluated and first considered autistic at 2 1/2 years.

I was diagnosed at the age of 28, but when I was 4 or 5, I was diagnosed with ADD - Predominantly Inattentive Type. The description of my "symptoms" matched AS better than ADD, but AS was not being diagnosed at the time.

I was 14 when I was diagnosed. When I was 13 a doctor said I was probably AS or there was a good chance of it based on what I told him. But when my mother researched autism and decided I was autistic she had a really crappy, miserable attitude about it until she got used to it and that's why my diagnosis was a blow to my ego that I never quite got over.

Well HFA at age 4, then when I moved to another state and had to attend a new school district they said HFA again at age 8. This was in 1986 and 1990. Just a few years before AS was accepted and always felt I fit that DX better.

DX'ed with HFA as a child. However this was in 1987 and I am certain had I been DX'ed a few years later I would have been DX'ed with AS instead.

All of eight years old, before I got diagnosed with Aspergers. I always knew I wasn't normal, I just never knew exactly what the reason was.
