I go by: he/she's the only one not playing power games (most clearly seen in the absence of any taunting from them).

I'm pretty good at spotting 'em, I often do a bit of "aspie watching" when I go out places heehee
I can usually tell by the way they speak or walk etc, also the same as what greantea said

That's a good question. I'm going to be honest. I have a hard time telling if someone has AS or is NT or whatnot. I honestly cannot tell. From my vantage point I am surrounded exclusively by what posters refer to as "NTs" because to me, everyone acts the same, pretty much. I don't see a lot of differences.
I realize that probably sounds bad. I mean no disrespect. The only difference I guess...a fellow Aspie would be the quiet one with a blank expression, like me.

Or maybe he/she's the silent one at work/school?
Or perhaps he is the one who talks to people who are higher up in the pecking order?

Aspergians have what I call clear faces, with really no facial expressions or any expressions in the eyes except tranquility. I notice them quite efficiently.

What do you mean by power games? What do you notice in these games? Do you truly notice this all the time by most NT's? If so, is your perception correct that they are playing power games? I am lost and really want to know.

I am quite certain you all would spot my undx AS husband. He doesn't have a lot of facial expressions at all. You would be able to tell if you were to talk to him.

I notice all the time that NT's seem really concerned about status, esp. the men. Women are also always trying to one-up each other.

Still, this makes me think of my AS mom. She was really controlling and always at the head of the totem pole wherever she went. At her funeral, she was described as "a force to be reckoned with."

Hmmmm... hard to tell.

I think a free-range Aspie who hasn't yet been forced to conform would be oblivious to the demands of the lunatics around him, doing his own thing, whatever that may be.

An enlightened Aspie who has been to hell and back would be philosophical, defiant of the demands of the lunatics around him, doing his own thing, whatever that may be.

A properly programmed Aspie, broken and confused, would be doing all he can to kiss the right butts and defend the status quo in the pathetic hope that it will pay off someday. He's the one chained out back, eating his cold dinner in the rain. If you approach, he'll snarl.
