of the double standards.

Female aspies are in the minority here - and as long as that's the case - we'll always be the "fringe" freaks.

Thanks for the wake-up call. I thought feminism was a thing of the past. I was soooo wrong.

Sorry, I'm just a clueless Aspie. I hadn't noticed a double standard.
Is this in reference to some other thread?

Erm?

Female aspies are a minority anywhere as far as we know from the research.

Is this because of what I said in the Older vs. Younger thread? I don't think this should be cause for you to leave. You're right. Aspie women are in the minority. Not only on here, but statistically.

As I stated in the thread, my thoughts were more directed towards Ticker, not you. She gave a huge bashing young Aspie men and even as a woman, I took offence to it. I think your concerns are valid ones. I think we DO need to raise our boys (aspie or otherwise) to be respectful. But I also don't feel that the outspoken younger ones here, are speaking for the majority. Maybe I'm niave?

I still fail to see the double standard here. Though, I can be clueless, so that wouldn't be a huge shock.

I don't really know what this is about but I'd just like to say that as a guy, I enjoy your posts.

I haven't really noticed any systematic discrimination against women here but I probably don't frequent the threads where it would happen.

Either way, it is unfortunate that you have been made to feel uncomfortable here as a woman.

I really doubt the majority of men here intentionally discriminate against women, but a lot of men (I mean in general, not specifically on this site) still do not have healthy attitudes towards women. There are also many out there who do, though.

Gender = Inadequate.
There is no such thing.
The spirit is neither male nor female.

FWIW, autism affects a lot more males than females. So that males outnumber females with AS should not be a surprise.

Sorry for the temper tantrum, everyone.

But all my life I've been told that nice girls don't say bad things. If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all, etc. etc.

Hence my hot-headed accusations of double-standards. Seems the guys can be crude and offensive but the girls are still expected to rise above it. Not that we were being crude and offensive - in my opinion. Guys can discuss rape fantasies but we can't say anything mean about the guys because we'll hurt their tender little feelings. (OK - starting to rant again....deep breath)

Sigh...

I'll probably just hang out in the Spongebob and kitty/puppy discussions...the grown-ups are too scary. :shaking:

Ever notice they don't have a hug emoticon here? Microsoft Messenger has a hug guy. I'll use a kitty emoticon because cats are huggable.

:cat:

It's a myth that aspies don't like hugs - I like hugs (but I hate creepy neck rubs... and holding hands feels awkward when walking).

MmeLePen, I hope you decide to continue contributing to this forum. I appreciate reading what you have to say, you have always been a positive influence here in my opinion. Surely you wouldn't want to abandon this forum to the insensitive and immature and make this place more negative by the lack of your presence?

Don't let them get to you, just a bunch of silly boys ;)

As far as I can tell about WP, you can pretty much say what you want as long as it's directed at opinions or ideas expressed in posts and not individual users. You can say whatever's on your mind about what someone else thinks as long as it's about what they think and not them personally. So go ahead and say what you think. But please, don't be mean to me, personally...lol
