Should I see a doctor?
I'm a 22 years old university student, and I live in Korea.
I have suspected whether I have AS since a week ago.
I really surprised that general characteristics of AS described me.
I really have suffered from my awkward social skill and I have endured so many disadvantages.
If I really have AS, AS diagnosis will may help me to get relief from social-related pain.
I had wanted to be an another person until just recently, but the diagnosis will makes me not to be in a sense of inferiority.
And I will be eligible to benefit from formal welfare system - this is the reason why I need a formal diagnosis of AS.
My symptoms are listed below.
- Whenever groups are made, I'm 'always' excluded unless someone cares me actively. But I don't want to be excluded. In drinking party, people call me 'a sightseer'.
- People 'always' cannot perceive my joke as a joke. I have never succeded. I don't know why but maybe my flat intonation is a problem. Also, people sometimes misunderstand my question as a declarative sentence. When I ask "He is a good artist?", people perceive it as "He is a good artist."
- I 'cannot' say in a small talk with peers. I feel a panic when I'm asked to talk. I completely don't know about how to say. it's hard to come up with conversation. The only thing I can do is imitating other person's easy words such as 'that's right'. This is calculated from head not mind. If it is not suitable in situation, I'm smiling instead of talking most of the time. Thus, peers describe me as a quiet person. But I can assert my opinion about heavy topic such as social issues.
- I don't have an interest with other person. People want to contact me but I sometimes refuse them though I don't hate them. I don't know why I refuse them.
- I have no close friend. I'm so passive in social relationship. Making a friend is hard for me. it was so painful for me to admit the deserted social relationship when I just entered a highschool and university.
- I hardly feel emotional messages. I cannot sympathize other's feeling in drinking party. I just imitate other person not to be a strange person. But It's hard for me. I can understand logically whey they are happy or angry. But I can't feel or behave like them. I sometimes feel I'm a heartless. I couldn't feel sad when I was in a funeral of a familar person. I have a cool head but don't have a warm heart.
- I like logicality and rationality. I'm always thinking of a great duty such as 'the right'. (and I don't read novels)
- I usually don't see other's eyes so it's hard to me to recognize the person. Also, I sometimes stare blank until I notice myself.
- Even if I meet a close friend, I just greet him and then pass him immediately as I don't know him. So some friends dislike me.
- I am clumsy in excercise such as catching, sending, kicking a ball. Especially, I have a fear in team excercises. Some friends wanted to help me so I learned basketball from them so many months in middle school and high school, but It was useless.
- I have met two professors who graduated musical university and they told me that I'm talented in piano. Also I can play guitar and violin. But my major is electronics. I can concentrate more than other people in working, studying, and practicing without rest. So I suspect that musical talent is the result of concentrated repeatitions.
- I'm collecting a musical sheet in pdf files but I think it's not odd.
- I have something like a compulsion of a perfection. At work, people sometimes praise my outcomes that are completely perfect. They describe me as a hard worker but not socialable.
When I saw a doctor in my small country, he said I'm not an austism because I can explain my symptoms fluently.
But I saw many AS people on youtube who can explain their symptoms, so it's not reasonable.
He didn't mention about asperger's disorder so I suspect he might forget about it.
So I wonder that I should meet an expert in a big city if I am suspected to have AS.
I want to know simple opinion of yours, who have an AS diagnosed.
Am I suspected to have AS? So should I see a doctor?
(Sorry to my clumsy English skill)

From your post, I'd say the odds are extremely high that you have AS. You need to seek out a Psychologist with experience in this particular disorder, for a diagnosis.
I don't know how the system in your area works, but if there are Mental Health clinics for those with low incomes, that would be a good place to begin. Tell them your social dysfunction is causing you anxiety and depression. If there is no one there who can give you an official AS diagnosis, they can point you toward someone who can.
Many doctors and psychologists do not know about Aspergers Syndrome. You should take the QUIZ and find a doctor that knows about it.
(You write English well.)
