Out of these four characters; who one would be most likely to end up with a diagnosis?
I know that Monk is not a cartoon but I didn't pay enough attention to what I was saying.

Hank Hill????? Not sure about him.

Lisa Simpson and Comic book guy are possible.

Monk is not a cartoon, but is wayyyy OCD, I have never seen the show but I know that.

I would go with Lisa Simpson only because its eather her or nobody.

Hank Hill is just Hank Hill, no aspie ness in him IMO.

Comic book guy, definitely.
Lisa Simpson is possibly borderline AS/NT.

Shouldn't this thread be in TV discussion?

Hank Hill is just very conservative/traditional in his views.

Comic Book Guy probably most likely to have AS.

Monk.
Comic Book Guy I wouldn't think. He is too comfortable around people to be Autistic IMO.

None of them.

You can't diagnose a fictional character with a condition that their creator does not specifically state they have.

Why not? Literary critics often interpret literature according to their understanding of the world - hence feminist criticism is applied to literary works where the author was not a feminist, for instance. Once a fictional work has been created, it exists independently of the creator's intentions, and all kinds of interpretations may be applied. Seems reasonable to me to observe that a fictional character has Aspie characteristics. Even if the creator has never heard of Asperger Syndrome, they might have based the character on someone they know who happened to be an undiagnosed Aspie.

I consider both Monk & House to be Aspies.

On the subject of TV characters with AS traits...I put in my vote for Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory.

And although Monk is not a cartoon character, he definitely displays many characteristics of AS...he is way beyond just OCD!

Both of these TV shows are really funny and well-written. My favorites! :)

No idea who "Monk" or "Hank Hill" but out of Lisa and Comic Book Guy I'd definately have to agree with the latter.

I'd have to say Lisa Simpson.

No way is Lisa aspie. She is just very smart so it makes her an outcast. That happens to lot of kids who are very smart or geniuses because kids get jealous of them and single them out. Doesn't mean "hey congratulations, you have AS now."

I don't see one aspie trait in her. She is honest but she can be dishonest too like anyone else.

Monk just has OCD so I don't think he is AS. You can have OCD with out the AS.

I have no clue who Hank Hill is and the comic book guy, is that The Simpsons too? I hardly see him in the episodes so I wouldn't know.

Hank Hill is on King of the Hill, and the Comic Book Guy is on the Simpsons.

I voted for Hank Hill because of his resistance to change.

Monk, but the problem is that he has nonverbal communication, emotional inflection, and proper social reciprocation.

He has the repetitive behaviour, which is his obsession with detective work, plus all of the OCD traits of OCD.

He's the only one "disabled" enough out of the list to be close.

None of the others are remotely close.
